The Lufra Website claims to be a four star hotel with Austar, a Pool & Spa's, facilities that seem appropriate to their adverised price of $170 per night for a Studio Twin.....After checking in we discovered that there was no Austar, the Pool was permanently boarded up, & all that remains of the spas are the securing iron bolts sticking... As the "unfriendly" manager who tried to explain to the "unwilling-to-listen" guest the reasons for website and other information not being up-to-date I acknowledge his concerns but take exception to a complaint of this nature that is made at check-out AFTER STAYING 3 DAYS when an earlier discussion may have been more beneficial. As manager I accept responsibility for the... More

We stayed in one of the hotel rooms which overlooked the beautiful Pirates Bay. We found our room to be very comfortable and clean. The room had a new bathroom which was very nice. We ate at the hotel every night and enjoyed the meals. They had a nice selection of meals on their menu. The breakfast is a buffet... More

We stayed in the 2 bedroom studio, which was fantastic, surrounded by such beauty, it had a wonderful and relaxing outlook, hard to fault the natural surrounds. I think the apartment is probably a little over priced, but this tends to be the trend in Tasmania. I rated childrens activities as poor, due to the fact the advertised pool is... More

LUFRA HOTEL is no longer operating under the Best Western banner but the self-catering units are now known as the BEST WESTERN LUFRA APARTMENTS. Guests' reactions and reports are in direct proportion to their expectations and the service/facilities offered. Since taking over management of Lufra in July 2011 we have endeavoured to provide guests with information relating to the standard... More

This should be 2 hotels with 2 different ratings. Wotif should not be selling rooms here as 4 star because the section of the motel I was in was 2 star at best.

We found our accomodation lovely, affordable and perfect for that getaway. The food was lovely, staff were very friendly, accomodating and helpful. The family units are where we stayed so if you intend to stay for more that one night I highly recommend you opt for one of the newer units.

We had spent a glorious 10 days throughout Tasmania, and staying here was our final stop. We will never stay here again at the lufra , the owners are rude and have no people skills , why are they in the hospitality industy . It is filthy, do not eat at the restaurant unless you want to be sick, wonderful... More

We chose to stay in Eaglehawk Neck because of its proximity to Port Arthur, and the choice of accommodation in this part of the world is fairly limited. This place was set up by Reg Ansett in 1948 to give everyone access to the 'best view on Earth'. Granted, it is quite a picturesque part of the world, with the... More

We looked at two rooms in the main bit of the hotel. Stayed in one overlooking the bay and the sound of waves all night was very relaxing. It was recently renovated, but a little small. Thankfully we had a choice as the other room had the aroma of stale smoke without the benefit of the recent renovations. An easy... More

I spent a week touring around Tasmania and have to say this was the best place I stayed in. I had read some bad reviews on the place but as the only hotel near the Tassalated Pavement decided to stay there anyway. I must have been lucky as I was given a modern 1st floor room with a sea-view. The... More
