I stayed there one night in December of 2011. I had the time of my life. Great food (I recommend the kangaroo). Dandy little bar and small comfortable rooms (though they had some difficulties with the light when I was there). Visiting the caves is a must as well as the trekks you can do for free.

We weren't there for the food and accommodation - the Caves are the obvious attraction - but one would still welcome a few basics of warmth and professionalism. It is really 3 businesses - the Caves tours, the accommodation and the restaurant; but they don't really seem to work together. We did a quick check-in close to 4 pm and... More

We stayed in a triple family motel room which was comfortable and clean, and includes a kitchenette and fridge. Sound did travel between rooms but not a huge issue if you have kids who rise at the crack of dawn too! Breakfast and dinner are good in the restaurant (including marking gluten free meals) but the takeaway sandwiches / coffees... More

We had three rooms (a triple family room and two kings) in the Caves House and were terribly disappointed. It was a hovel at $235. The walls are paper thin and conversations on the street and in the corridor carry clearly into the rooms. The heater has no thermostat: the choices are "sauna" or "freeze". The miniscule 1980s CRT television... More

Thank you for taking the time to review our property. I have discussed with the Hospitality Manager, Food & Beverage Supervisor and Head House Keeper your concerns. We are a non funded government department and are investing in refurbishment of the entire heritage listed property as revenue will allow. The area in which you stayed, the Mountain Lodge Motel, which... More

We were originally planning to stay in Lithgow, but the local mines had every room in town booked, so after dinner with friends, we drove to Jenolan in the dark. We've done this road before, so knew what was coming. I wouldn't recommend someone come to Jenolan for the first time in the dark. The road is narrow and winding,... More

All accomodation is old, tired and worn, but the staff are very very helpful, and it is just so much fun to stay. We stayed last weekend and went in 4 caves (which our 2yo and esp 4yo LOVED), saw kangaroos and platypi. It was a fabulous little getaway. We stayed in teh motel like accomodation out teh back which... More

We stayed on a 'DBB' package - Dinner, Bed, Breakfast. The building itself is very worn and tired. The wallpaper is peeling, the roof is falling apart and the floorboards creak like banshees. The rooms are very small, with the beds very close to the doors. If you appreciate 'vintage charm' then you'll love it, we personally expected something a... More

To celebrate a special birthday I surprised my love with a weekend at Jenolan Caves House. When we were there the rooms were of an older but romantic style of the Thirties(?),but may have been refurbished since then.Their older style, small nature did not detract from their charm. There were two highlights for me-the romatic,Victorian Dining Room, complete with perfectly set white linen tablecloths... Its a real treat to stay in a place that still operates after its heyday has well and truly gone but which still contains many traces of the first class place it used to be. We stayed here one night after going to the Valentines Opera in the Caves - after a great night spent listening to Arias in the... More

A charming hotel built in the early 20th Century and well refurbished. We stayed in a classic room with its own ensuite. Everything was as expected and quite well done. The meals were delicious and whole ambience is cosy. The bar meals are very reasonably priced, the dining room is more 'up-market'.
