Having relocated to Pulborough on business I have been staying in Chequers for over three months. Throughout this time I have had a warm and hospitable welcome from Peter and his team. The rooms are spotless and a little quirky and the food is tasty and well presented. Often my colleagues and I have made suggestions as to how our... More

Thank you for your review following your visit. May I say how sorry I was to read your comments which were very suprising. Our Manager in Chequers is very popular with our guests and I am most suprised that he came across as rude as this is not his usual demeanour at all. If the bar is quiet then we... More

We stayed for one night recently and were really looking forward to the weekend based upon how the hotel advertises itself as the 'best kept secret in Pulborough'. Our room was old, dingy and tacky with a very uncomfortable bed. We came down in the morning for breakfast and had to walk through a freezing sitting room. Very unwelcoming to... More

Having stayed at The Chequers earlier this year we were eager to renew our acquaintance with this lovely hotel. It is so full of old-fashion charm we regard it as a "gem" in the heart of Sussex countryside. We were so lucky to get our favourite room, number 2, which is so full of character. The ensuite was immaculate so... More

One of the best hotels I have ever stayed in. Warm and friendly service, very clean and comfortable rooms, great food and lovely garden. All set in a typical English village with beautiful views. I will definitely stay there again.

I have relocated for business to the area and have been resident monday to Friday most weeks from February to the end of June. I have found Pete and Jen to be excellent hosts who are complimented by very helpful staff. The rooms are clean fresh and welcoming, the menu is limited but varied with a good selection of fresh... The welcome was warm, despite the awful weather. The room was comfortable and clean with good tea making facilities and tv. Evening meal was excellent with a good choice of food and breakfast also good and plentiful. The current manager/chef and his wife and assistant, all very friendly and helpful. Went on a Friday evening - very good value too.... More

Myself & my husband booked the hotel for our friends & family to stay in for our wedding reception. We also stayed and had the superior room, my sister & partner had the 'honeymoon' suite with the four poster, a real treat for them. Pete & Jenny have done a great job of getting the hotel up together and providing... More

A short walk from the station, the Chequers Hotel is a pleasant place to stay. Nothing standout but certainly nothing to worry about. Room and bathroom were large and clean. I had limited encounters with staff, but all very nice.

I have been staying here for some time now and I have been very happy with the service provided by all staff at the hotel. The rooms are clean, well maintained and are in a traditional style. The menu is not extensive however The food is always fresh and uncomplicated. The management will always try to accommodate any special requirements.... More
