We booked a 1 night stay, and found this B&B to have friendly service,it was clean, we slept well and had a generous breakfast. Good value for money. Easy to park outside. Decor was a little dated, but this did not affect our stay or matter to us.
Considering the location and time of year, our one night weekend stay was excellent value for money. Although a wee bit dated, the bathroom had been upgraded and everywhere was spotlessly clean. The efficient frendly breakfast service and good "full english breakfast" left us leaving the Selwood Lodge with a full stomach and a very happy feeling. We look forward...

Its hard to fault Selwood Lodge, especially if you're looking for a friendly, comfortable stay, in a quiet location. Situated a few minutes away from the sea front, the rooms are comfortable and quiet (even if you stay at the front by the road you don't notice any traffic). Breakfast is lovely and just what you need for the day...

Just about to book our third break at the lovely guest house...clean rooms, comfy beds tea coffee and biscuits replenished every day...nice tv room and quiet garden... Doreen does a lovely breakfast...and Albert is great to sit and chat to...near all the shops and station, cinema down the road....nice little museum in town... and plenty of cafe's...
Second time there last week, November 2011. Clean and tidy rooms, plumbing has just been newed and is not noisy anymore. Very nice cooked breackfast in ther morning. The guesthouse staff is really very nice, friendly and accomodating. I would reccomend it 100%. Very convinient position: next to the railway station and city center.
The guesthouse staff were very friendly, and extremely accomodating when we wanted an extra bed made up. The rooms were basic and clean - they did the job. The breakfast in the morning is outstanding - you don't get better!
The only problem is the plumbing - it is all on the Sanitec system so makes a complete raquet! Bring...

The noise from the plumbing has now been resolved as the Saniflo in one room has now been removed and the pipes re-run. There was only ever one room with a Saniflo, all the other en-suite rooms were not noisy and plumbed normally.

Room small, limited tv channels, water filled up in shower tray, dreadful noise from plumbing! Breakfast not great. Quite noisy as well at night with rooms being very close together. But still comfortable enough for the cost.
This guests complaint about the plumbing has now been resolved as we have removed the Saniflow from the only room that had same and pipes have now been re-run.
