We had room 19 a family room on the top floor. Lovely spacious room with 4 beds but only one bedside light . Clean simple and comfortable, but looks more than a little tired. The staff are very helpful and couldn't be better, the customer service was superb. Dinner was disappointing. The rarebit toast was very burnt and should not... More

Spent a short weekend attracted by The Cheviot and the National Park, a fantastic part of the country enhanced by this hotel. The rooms are simple and comfortable, the double bed we had was nto very big so if you are tall (or wide) maybe check ! there is lots of bar / dining space and despite it being very... More

I stayed here on seeing how nice the hotel looked from the outside and from the website photographs so I was expecting something better inside. It was clean but tired. The bar area was uncomfortable even though there was an open fire. I had a meal in the bar/restaurant but there wasn't any heating on and it was only 3... More

My wife and I recently spent 4 nights at the Hotel to celebrate our Golden wedding. The staff in particular Duncan could not have been more friendly and helpfull. We had room one which overlooked the garden and was spacious and very clean. All of the meals, including dinner were prepared with excellent local produce and were cooked to perfection.... More

We have called here for evening meals over the last 5 or 6 years when staying in the area and always had excellent meals. Our recent visit was disappointing in that staff did not appear that interested. When the meals were brought to the table the waiter was told who was having what still managed to plonk them down in... More

We called in for lunch last week, and found a bustling and busy bar full of diners. We had a nice welcome from one of the Managers who found us a place to sit, and who brought our drinks over. We had lunch - a large protion of Whitebait and salad and a steak sandwich, both of which were excellent,... More

We'd booked a lunch at the Tankerville to celebrate a colleague's work. The service was slow, the fish looked, and tasted, as though it had been swimming around in the fryer for 3 days, the beef sandwiches were poor and hhe scampi was less than average. To finish, desserts were all ice cream based - in January!!!! We will never... More
