Brilliant John was more than accomodating for 10 Cyclists. We were cycling from Edinburgh to Newcastle and John was magnificent and getting the bikes stored securely, making sure we wre allaccomodated and getting up early to make us a fine breakfast. Very clean and well recommended. More

Independent hostel, friendly and welcoming and also very good value for money. Was only stopping off for one night but must say I was very impressed. Location is in the centre of Berwick which was convenient but unfortunately also meant it could get noisy at night. Hostel has kitchen facilities for people who would like to cook. Communal dining area... More

While cycling the Coast & Castles route from Newcastle to Galashiels we (3) stayed here for a night. We were found the hideaway hostel in between two shops, up a narrow close. It has two small courtyards with wrought iron spiral staircases to rooms. Our rooms were very comfortable and well equiped and we had a great breakfast of porridge,eggs,... More

We loved the Hideaway Hostel. I'd describe it as more of a budget b&b than a hostel. It's better than B&B because you can cook and save on eating out. It's an eccentric warren of a place and we never really worked out how big it was or the layout. Someone else described it as being full of owner's clutter.... More

We were three families travelling together with young children (age between 2 to 9) which we advised them off at the time of booking some two months previous. What they didn't tell us when we booked were the number of spiral staircases between all our rooms both inside and out and no common rooms for us all to get together... More

Stayed at this hostel during a cycling trip through Northumbeland & The Borders. It has to be one of the the best accommodations I have stayed at, and the level of comfort and attention to detail was second to none. The host could not have been more welcoming. My room was at the top of the building up a set... More

This slightly-hidden hostel was one of the most friendly and welcoming hostels at which I've stayed. The owner is incredibly welcoming and the location is off a nice quiet side street but only 5 minutes walk from central Berwick. Having cycled from Newcastle, the comfortable bed I slept in and the wonderful breakfast & porridge I had the following morning... More
