We stayed at this hostel for a couple of nights at the end of Feb 2013 and had a very warm welcome from the staff and a lovely stay. The facilities in the well converted old police station are excellent, the bedroom and ensuite was clean without being fussy, all communal areas well equipped (with games room including table football... Thank you for your review - its always good to get feedback from guests and to know that the ideas we suggest for activities and places to visit are well received. Alnwick Castle has reopened for the summer again and has lots of exciting events and attractions on. Another fav of ours is the trip out to the Farne Islands... More

Stayed over a weekend with family and was pleasantly surprised by the standard of the accommodation here. All the usual features of a Youth Hostel (albeit outside the normal YHA network) and very clean, tidy and organised. Bedrooms very comfortable and some with en-suite too, plus family rooms seem to be near kitchen and lounge which is really helpful. The... More

Thank you for your review - glad to hear you had a great stay. You will find all our rooms, even the dorm rooms, are ensuite - no long walks down drafty corridors in your towel here! As an independent hostel within the YHA network, we need to raise sufficient revenue to cover our operating costs and allow us to... More

the breakfasts were generous and tasty, the room, clean, comfortable and not smelly (not always guaranteed in a hostel), and there is a separate lounge and games room. The staff were friendly and there is an excellent pub (the John Bull) not far away. All good.

We found it a wonderful place to stay for the night. The bedrooms and the beds are extremely comfortable with non-squeaky bunk beds. Very pleasant staff and great breakfast. Be aware that check in opens at 4 o clock!

We are glad you enjoyed your stay at Alnwick Youth Hostel. Its always lovely to hear from guests and we very much look forward to welcoming you to Alnwick once more. I am sure, like many of our guests, you found the 16:00hrs reception open time a welcome difference to the 17:00hrs opening time of hostels in years gone by,... More

The queen meets you as you walk through this hostel (or at least her picture and a chair she sat on when she opened it!)....and if she ever falls on hard times, she could do worse than this place. The location is very close to town, easy to locate, and a stone's throw from the castle and grounds. The building... More

We just returned from a visit here and this has become one of our top hostels anywhere. It is in a perfect spot, easy to walk to the town , which hosts the equally fabulous Alnwick Castle and Gardens. The hostel was clean, friendly, secure and spacious. The rooms were very comfortable with high ceilings spotless bathroom and comfortable bedding.... More

Stayed here for two nights and can definitely say it's one of the best hostels I've stayed in. Particularly so when you have the entire place to yourself as we did on our first night! Even on the second night there was only one other person there. Rooms are nice and clean and warm. The hostel is in a very... More

Conveniently located in the centre of town with excellent pubs and restaurants nearby and all the attractions of Alnwick and Northumberland within easy reach. The welcome from the arden was friendy and the advice on restaurants (we went for Cafe Delicious; Tapas) and pubs (Tanners Arms; open mike night on last Friday of the month) was spot on. Fantastic location; welcoming and friendly staff; excellent self-catering and catered-for facilities; good public transport links; comfortable beds/dorms (loved the shower). Highly recommended. This will be my accommodation of choice for future visits to Northumberland.
