We have just returned from our 3rd visit to Lumbylaw, this time staying in Garden Cottage. The cottage itself is warm and cosy, with a very comfortable bed and beautifully fitted bathroom, just perfect for the two of us. It is a very peaceful location with the most amazing views of the surrounding hills. We loved watching the birds and... More

My family,(wife, children and grand children) have just spent another most enjoyable week at Lumbylaw Cottage, (our 6th holiday here). Perched on a ridge the views all round are magnificent. It's very peaceful and with its own ruined castle, hills and streams the location is ideal for all ages. The cottage is beautifully warm with all mod cons, and the beds... More

My wife and I stayed a week at the Lumbylaw cottage and enjoyed the beautiful Hobbit like countryside of Northumberland at Edlingham near Alnwick. The cottages are located on a working cattle and sheep farm. The hosts are delightful and most helpful. The valley is delightful with a view of the ancient Edlingham Castle and a railway bridge. Easy to... More

Garden cottage is a wonderful one bed stone cottage airy and spacious with plenty of light. We loved the peaceful location and waking each morning to see pheasants and birds my favourite being a great spotted woodpecker and breakfast at the window overlooking the countryside was a treat for my tired suburban eyes. Definately a great location to escape the... More

We stayed in the cottage (4 Adults, 2 Children) recently and can recommend the accomodation. Everything you could need whilst you are away. We found this to be a good location/base from which to travel around Northumberland. It is set in a great location with fantastic views and scenery. Morning views of the Edlingham Castle Ruins were great with an... More

We've been here a couple of times now, and for anyone wishing to visit "real" Northumberland there's no better place to be based. It's might not be the cheapest, and at first glance some may feel it's a bit "out of the way". The simple fact is "you get what you pay for". First class accommodation in a simply stunning... More

Sally & Robert were extremely helpful and the cottage was beautifully furnished. Northumberland really is an ideal mix of peaceful walks and varied & interesting places... More

A cottage that has everything just right (comfort, homeliness, snugness, as well as two stunning panoramas); a situation that is perfect on foot or for short journeys (the unspoilt coast is about 10 miles away, you can't move for castles, lovely and quirky destinations in Cragside, Rothbury, etc); remote without being isolated, rugged vistas without being overly bleak. Sally is... More

We stayed one week at this lovely place near Alnwick. The cottage itself is in the middle of a beutifull countryside on a working pedigree farm. It has 3 spacious bedrooms and is well catered for. There is also a private garden where you can enjoy views of Edlingham Castle or the Northumbrian countryside. Mrs. Lee, the host is very... More
