If you get a first floor room with a balcony you will have a stunning view. However, the room, although clean is quite small and only suitable for a night or two. When checking in there wasn't very much enthusiasm and the whole experience lacked any kind of spark. The pricing reflects everything you need to know about Whitstable, an... More

The hotel is in a good location on the seafront. However, the rooms are very basic and small and over priced. There was not enough room for a wardrobe. We had a first floor room overlooking the beach, with balcony and paid £135 per night for Friday and Saturday in April, which I thought was expensive for the quality of... More

Sad to see the decline of this hotel. The rooms are scruffy, the infrastructure creaking and the meanness of the proprietors ( 3 teabags in a double room) shows. The number and quality of towels is inadequate and the bed was very uncomfortable. The decline seems to go hand in hand with the Oyster Factory restaurant which was pretty empty... More

We were so disappointed! We paid £135 for a premier room, but apart from the lovely beachfront view from the window, everything else was average or below. Furnishings were shabby/grubby, the carpet stained ,no biscuits with the (basic)tea/coffee - making facilities, and only one small bottle of ( fizzy ) water for two people. The en-suite was frankly dirty, with cracked... just spent one night here with a gang of friends. good things: location, sea views, friendly staff, comfy beds. not so good things faint whiff of fish in reception area, shabby /dated decor, smallish rooms. hotel could do with a facelift, breakfast ok but not well presented, wifi kept dropping. would probably stay elsewhere next time.

At Xmas our children gave us the present of a weekend in one of the Fisherman's Cottages owned by the Hotel Continental. We arrived at the hotel last Friday evening and were suprised when we went to check in that the two receptionists said that the account was still to pay. I showed them the sheet headed 'Hotel Continental' which... More

We stayed there for one night during the Feb half term break- which we hadn't anticipated and which meant Whistable was very busy- the sun was shining all weekend. The Room was a double at the front overlooking the street and the sea- a ovely big bay windowed room which we were told is their Bridal room. I don't think... More

We stayed at this hotel for two nights, Friday and Saturday to attend a wedding, and were largely dissapointed with our stay. Our room, which was £95 pounds a night, was little bigger than a cupboard, had nothing in it, and overlooked a fire escape. No wardrobe, no chairs, no desk, just a bed, two bedside tables, and a small... More

We found this to be a very average hotel at far too high a price. The common areas and rooms are a bit shabby, albeit our room was a decent size and had lovely views of the sea. Staff were quite friendly. The breakfast and location were the best bits. My advice would be to spend your money on a... More

I have just come back from a night stay at the 'Hotel Continental' in Whitstable. It worried me a little after reading the reviews because I didn't know what to expect. I had a sea view room and I was very pleasantly surprised. The room was lovely and clean, was big enough and very clean. Had tea making facilities with... More
