We are staying at the Star and Eagle on the 10th March for our engagement wkend away (away from the children :-)). So looking forward to a weekend in a lovely oldey worldy place. Read all the reviews. Unfortunately we are not eating in the restaurant as we have dinner paid for at the Globe and Rainbow as a gift....

We stayed for one night in the four poster bedroom overlooking the road and churchyard and, although there was a quite a lot of traffic passing by during rush hours, the windows were practically sound-proof and we had a great night's sleep on a very comfortable mattress. The food was wonderful and all the staff were warm and friendly. We...

Thank you for taking the trouble to write a review about the hotel. We are glad you enjoyed your stay and also that you found the double glazing does it's job! The little shop is called Village Life, we are lucky to have Kates shop in our village and an added bonus, my daughter helps out there too. We look...

We visited Goudhurst in the summer months and fell in love with the place. Thought the Star & Eagle looked so interesting and full of character, so booked an overnight stay.
The room was very clean, comfortable bed, lovely view of the countryside. Loved the olde world surroundings. Only thing missing was customer service, absolutely non-existent, in fact bordered on...

Sorry to learn you didin't enjoy your stay. You stayed with us last Thursday in room 4 overlooking the countryside. There was a problem with the card details you had given to secure and pay your bill when you booked and your card was declined when it was screened on arrival. Unfortunatly all hotels do take payment in adavnce or...

5 of us stayed here, in 3 rooms, and we had a lovely overnight visit. The village is on top of a hill so there are lovely views from the windows, especially beautiful first thing in the morning when the world is still and misty. The floorboards creak, the building is a bit wonky and there are lots of uneven/tilted...

Thank you for your review. We are so glad you liked our old Inn and the facilities we have to offer. I don't quite understand your comment about breakfast though, I'm very puzzled. We do have a list of choices on our breakfast menu including the full english. I hope you were given a menu and didn't think the selection...

Thank you for your review. Pleased to hear you like our place. We are very proud of it so it's nice to get positive feed back. Sorry to learn you hadn't seen that we do offer fresh local yogurt from Northiam Dairy on our breakfast menu and it is served with strawberries, Kiwi slices and grapes or honey. I've been...

Eight very fussy, very picky people who eat out regularly and travel extensively descended to celebrate my 49th (honest) birthday. I'm delighted to say that everyone was delighted. The food, the service (Attila - what a star), the atmosphere were all just great. The olde-worlde charm of the buildings charmed us all - what a giggle, finding our rooms down...

If you are the group that I remember, you were all very concerned before you booked about some of the bad reviews you had read on trip advisor. You didn't let it put you off and you came anyway. So glad you enjoyed your stay, I know you were wanting somewhere special in the countryside and not too noisy. Also...

There were 5 of us passing through this village and we decided to spend the night at the hotel, and I must say the rooms are really interesting.
Real Old world, If you are above 5feet tall, expect to stoop, my room had a huge oak beam across the middle of the room, which I have to say caught me...

Thank you for your review. I'm pleased to hear your group enjoyed your stay here. If I am right you were a group of fishermen at a competition locally. We do hope we see you again if you are ever back this way. Next time you must try our restaurant too

Thank you for your review. Glad you liked our old Inn. Boy, it was hot when you were here and your room got the sunshine all day. I must remember next summer if it gets hot to offer a top sheet and get rid of the feathers, brilliant in the winter but could be too much in a heatwave. So...

We went with three other couples over four days. We all felt that the stay was outstanding. The Inn itself had all the character you would expect from a genuine old English Inn. Our bedrooms were nicely furnished with good quality bedding with lovely views of the Kent countryside. The food was outstanding. We sampled the others in Goudhurst, which...

I know you were all suprised to find that everything was good and just what you wanted as a group - peace, quiet, good food, good service...
