We stayed at The Peat Spade in February on a snowy weekend, and had the most amazing time. Our room, 'Francis Francis' was beautiful and cosy with lovely fittings and the most comfortable bed.. All the staff were very attentive and helpful and the whole Inn had a wonderful ambience, great décor and was extremely welcoming. The food was beautifully... More

Not sure what all the moaning was about on the site. The pub was stylish and spacious. We went for a xmas family get together for 9 adults and children. Service was attentive and thoughtful and extra drinks etc. were brought in a timely fashion. Menu was perfect with a mix of traditional in season dishes. Everyone had a great... More

Came here for a weekend with girlfriends to catch up - two lovely twin rooms - really stylishly decorated - shame there isn't a guest lounge and only one armchair in our rooms so two of you can't sit down - apart from on the bed. Very nice evening meal. Good service and fine breakfast. It would have been nice... More

Very expensive room considering that there was not enough room to sit and relax and no guest lounge. Not well serviced..3 light bulbs had to be replaced, heating not working!!! Dinner was good and service OK. Breakfast. No choice..muesli and full english or part of.... Overall disappointing and poor value.

We stayed for 2 nights and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The food was good, the service sharp and the atmosphere welcoming. We managed to share a pint or 2 with the friendly locals. The setting is "chocolate box" with the pub sorrounded by thatched cottages and beautiful scenery. We would go back tomorrow! Greg and Maryanne Pullen, Brighton, Victoria, Australia.

Some years back, when the Peat Spade was was run singularly by a rather eccentric but interesting woman, I popped in one day for a light lunch. Ordering soup and a roll I was told that as all the bread is baked to order I may have to wait some time. Oh....OK! Some two hours and seven pints later it... More

My boyfriend and I visited The Peat Spade on Saturday 9 July for dinner. I had mixed feelings about going, as several friends have been and all reported extremely slow service, but my boyfriend was keen to try it so we gave it a go. The Peat Spade is housed in an old pub, and has a very small seating... More

Stayed over for a night with business colleagues on 10th May. The bar and restaurant were busy so waited for a while to be seated, but understood as the staff were doing all they could. We ordered a main and desert. We received a lovely basket of homemade bread while we were waiting and it was delicious. I had some... More
