We have four kids so a quality outdoor non-chain meal can be tough to find when the weather's good. Not any more - The Cross Keys was ideal. Warm welcome, toys and play area for the kids, stunning location and cracking food. A couple of minor glitches with the order but all put right with a smile - so who... More

I booked a double room for one night to include breakfast. We were welcomed with smiles and shown to a very nice large room (in the outside chalet) with en suite. I found the attention to detail wanting - the pub and room needed a bit more care in terms of cleaning BUT the warm welcome helped us to ignore... More

If you’re looking for a proper pub, with great walks and good food and beer, this is just the ticket. an ideal place if you’re working nearby. Friendly locals, log fire, and a mad (Good Mad) Jack Russell! It’s so much better than Lenny Henry, and a Premier Inn! I recommend the Rabit Pies!

Visited for Sunday Lunch as the reviews were good. The welcome did not deserve the name! We were the only ones in the restaurant and the atmosphere was non-existent. Food was nothing special but the service was abysmal. Staff all seemed to be youngish and it was frustrating to hear them laughing and joking between themselves whilst they ignored us.... More

What a super place to break our journey from the ferry at Portsmouth, back home to Yorkshire. Everything was exceptional, the food, the accommodation and the staff. We would highly recommend The cross keys Inn. You do have to trust the sat nav as it is a bit off the beaten track but well worth the journey.

We can not fault this lovely place. A great atmosphere as soon as we arrived. Everyone we met (including the locals) were friendly and welcomed us as if we had all known each other for years. Although we were there due to work commitments, we felt as if we were on holiday. Nothing was too much trouble. There was a... More

Recently had an extended business stay at this charming country inn. It certainly had the soul that is missing from many heartless chain hotels. Staff pleasant, courteous and attentive whilst the food and service was excellent. Would highly recommend this B&B to anyone staying in the area. Although a bit off the main routes, it is worth seeking out this... More

I was shocked and sickened to see a collection of dead rabbits hanging outside the front of the pub Sunday last. I went up for a quiet drink with my children, but was met with a vision of animals hanging by their feet in full view of everyone. Was this really necessary? My children were so shocked, as was I!... The Cross Keys Inn is a proper country pub and as such make good use of locally sourced Game, when in season. for use in its kitchens. Throughout the year we will use rabbit, pheasant, partridge and venison. I am sorry that this customer was distressed to see Game being hung properly before being used in the kitchens. I am... More

A hotel with a stunning location with the external seating area overlooking surrounding countryside, surrounded by a beautiful country garden, complete with service with a smile and no traffic noise! Definitely a hotel I would visit again, either on business or for pleasure. Food and service were excellent. Internet access both in my room and out on the terrace.

We went to the Cross Keys Inn for Sunday lunch as a family of 6 - 4 adults & 2 children - a lovely country pub with a warm welcome from the staff. Local ales available and the staff are more than helpful in aiding your choice - staff were in fact most helpful for our entire visit. There is... More
