Upon arrival was told the room we had booked (four poster) had been taken earlier and that a "king size" room had been made up for us instead, this consisted of two single beds pushed together held with a King size sheet, and a duvet that barely fitted. It was clean and comfortable, however, it the decor was dated, the light switch was on the other side of the room and the bathroom should have been cleaner.

Staff very pleasant. Very good pub food and breakfast.Rooms very shabby, in need of major refurbishment. It's a shame as the location is perfect to visit the Abbey and Battle itself is a very pleasant village.

Lovely atmosphere , very pleasant attentive staff and very good food at resonable price . made us feel very welcome.

In a nutshell, the location is great and can't be beaten. Unfortunately, the pub needs a refurb, that's the bottom line. The rooms are shabby, the bathroom and shower are awful. I wouldn't have minded if it was £50. £70 is too expensive and the website gives a different impression to what it looks like in the flesh.

Very good location, very good breakfast and friendly staff. The room was very tired and needs refurbishment and you need to be short to use the toilet in the four poster room. No proper shower only a hose on the taps. A disappointing stay for £70
