A really different experience, not like any hotel I have ever stayed in, you got the feeling of a real trapper's lodge, the room was small and simple and authentic but it had everything you needed and after a day of action packed adventures in to the ice fields it was warm and comforting to return to. The staff were... More

I saw the photos for this hotel on the website and just fell in love with the idea of a rustic hut hotel built out of logs and furnished like an old-fashioned trapper's hotel. Can I just say the hotel looks even better in real life than it does the photos! The rooms were warm and quiet, and the furnishing... More

I loved this hotel. The hotel is built like a hunters' shack (although a very comfortable one) and was a far cry from corporate, big chain blandness. We were lucky enough to get a suite, with my friend's bed up in a loft. The staff were friendly and helped us book all our excursions (as well as filling up my... More

You don't go to Longyearbyen looking for a Marriott or Sheraton. (Well, you shouldn't.) And Basecamp is certainly not that. The conceit inside is that you are in a trapper's lodge and the effect they have created is convincing. The staff are excellent and the breakfast pretty good. It is certainly an ideal way to kick off a trip to... More

Stayed here in Aug 2008 (twice!) and loved it! (had to put sept 2010 in the box cos there wasn't an earlier one) The rooms are unique, quirky and really well done and the lounge at the top of the building with its panoramic sky view is excellent. Staff are very friendly (no matter what time you need to check... More

Stayed here for about 14hrs (wish it could have been longer) after an expedition cruise and before flying out. Right in the center of town on the main street, but honestly it is a very small town. There are two other hotels almost right next door, and Radisson is about a 5min walk away. Svalbar and the restaurant Kroa are... More

We stopped in this place a few years ago now and when I came home wanted to put a review on Trip Advisor - it wasn’t on - so glad it is now! Out of all the places to stay this is the one in Longyearbyen , it is unique and very cosy. We loved the fact that there is... More

This is a very special hotel in a very special town! Build from old wood from a Russian mining camp with a lot of interesting details. But it was also practical and well planned. Our suite had windowless bedrooms which is very practical in midnight sun! The breakfast was good and the service helpful in planning excursions etc.
