Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Very comfortable rooms. Kettle and small fridge with mini bar. Beautiful large gum trees with plenty of bird life. Pool covered to keep the birds and ducks out. Green grass area for child to play. Sitting out front of room in am and pm was a delight.

Room Tip: The pool was cold in March. Cheeky ducks and geese around. But not a bother. Car park outside...

Lets start with the very limited good. The rooms are a good size and The grounds are well looked after. Unfortunately, that’s where it ends. The rooms are very old and dated, the bathroom is something from the 70’s and is in dire need of a refurb. You can also hear everything going on in the rooms either side of you As far as service is concerned that is extremely bad. We had a group of 32 booked in for a wedding. We had arranged for a buffet breakfast on the Sunday morning they advised they could do it at $25.00 per person. A couple of months later we were notified that it would now be $29.00 per person as the woman who had made this original agreement has now left the winery. So without a choice we agreed to the $29 per person and booked that in. A couple of weeks before our arrival we get an email saying they cannot do breakfast AT ALL anymore due to staffing issues, however held another breakfast for other wedding guests the same day we were booked in??? We also booked an Al a carte dinner for 16 people on the Friday night. On the Monday the week before our arrival we were told that there is only now an option for a 2 course set meal or a 3 course set meal costing a lot more than what we AGAIN Already agreed on. So we cancelled the dinner reservation and went to another winery down the road. When I asked to speak to the manager about all the original changes I was told that the woman who had sent the emails was the manager. So that should give you some idea of what your dealing with. We had a 2 night stay and the cleaner came on the first morning and changed the bin. THAT’S IT. Did not bother to make the bed or touch the bathroom. Overall, the service at this winery is nothing short of terrible. We will never return here and advise you to AVOID

The checkin was flawless, rooms were spacious quiet and clean, the shower hot and clean, and the bed was very comfortable. 5/5. See my separate review for their excellent restaurant - 5/5. However, the cellar door was a joke - see my separate review - 2/5. We would definitely come back but would not bother with their cellar door

The rooms are clean and the bathrooms a good size. The pool is large and it’s a peaceful environment. The location is great , not only to go to the main road in mclaren vale but also for visiting the wineries in the area.

Lovely, relaxing grounds, large room with big bathroom and plenty of storage space. We stayed for three nights and we will stay again should we go back to McLaren Vale. Quiet and clean. Place is a little old-fashioned but still comfortable. Room supplies of. Offer and milk were not replenished each day which was disappointing

Booked a year ahead for a big birthday. Used Serafino as the accomodation and had lunch at a Woodstock wines. Immaculate gardens. Extremely clean rooms. Huge and light filled. Small kitchen. All apartments overlooking public fenced off pool. We didn’t use as it was a cool day when we visited but can imagine it gets plenty of use in summer. Reception staff friendly and helpful. Very happy.

Not only a fantasy restaurant and cellar door experience but the accommodation also met our needs. Very comfortable and clean! Slightly outdated and ready for an update, but more than acceptable. We thoroughly enjoy our stay in the tranquility Serafino provided.

We chose to stay here overnight to celebrate a birthday with friends. Our evening was spoilt by a group of 20 nearby. You couldn’t have a conversation as they were so loud. A group of this size should be in a private area. We had informed the staff that we were celebrating a birthday. Usually at such a fine dining restaurant they would do something special with the dessert ordered. Nothing! Definitely not a fine dining meal. They have a problem with thousands of cockatoos who screech all day. Feathers & droppings everywhere. They need to resolve this issue.
