Stayed here for a few weeks and found the Gidgee to be a comfortable place to come back to at the end of the day. The rooms are quite spacious and clean and the beds are comfy too. One of my favourite features was the size of the fridge - it's not huge but is big enough to store food... More

Good value, meals and standard of room- far superior to anything else in town.

I have stayed here many times and have always enjoyed by stay. The owners John and Mary are very friendly and make you feel welcome. I do find that the rooms could do with a better clean as when I have moved furniture I always seem to find some rubbish underneath. The rooms are a good size with split a/c... More

This motel was more than adequate for a one night stay. The room was comfortable, the bar was convivial and the restaurant food was quite acceptable. The hosts were very friendly and helpful. Remember this is the outback and Cloncurry is a small town but it still has plenty of basic shops and services. One other point to remember is... More

The Gidgee Inn is much improved from the last time we stayed, just over a year ago... Housekeeping is so much better, the rooms are clean, and the new flat screen Television sets are great. I would suggest maybe some new bedspreads though, the current ones are old and sad looking and spoil the ambience of a very spacious guest... More

Generally the place was OK but the level of service was not worth the prices they were charging. It appears that they employ back-packers as casual staff (room cleaners & restaurant staff), and this is apparent particularly in the room cleaning - I know the previous occupant (at least I hope it was only the last one) in my room... I found the Gidgee Inn to be very welcoming and the chef there produces some of the best food I have eaten in Queensland. John and Mary - the owners - go out of their way to be hospitable and solve any problems that you may have. The rest of the staff are also very friendly and cheerful. It is... More

A reasonable place to stay, nothing spectacular. There are not too many options with regard to accommodation in small towns like Cloncurry. Clean and utilitarian accommodation with the fixtures and fittings looking a bit tired. Was disturbed by some noise during the night emanating from railway carriage shunting a reasonable distance away from the motel.
