It was comfortable and had everything one could ask for right down to the icebuckets provide by the host Eugene for afternoon drinks after we arrived. The place was spotless and comfortable. It has a well appointed kitchen and dining room for the guests.

The Guest House in Chillagoe is a very good place to stay. It's easy to find, has a nice owner, lovely decor which matches its historic past and comfortable, clean rooms and beds. Firstly just stay at the guest house...best value for money around and right in town.
Make sure you visit the caves and also the smelters. The place has a great country feel and the pubs are safe for the family to have a meal...unlike Cairns!! Chillagoe has a river all year round and it was nice to just sit there...

The Post Office Guest House was welcoming, very clean and well organised. It was located in a central position across the road from the local tourism office. The locals were very friendly. We enjoyed our stay immensely and didn't want to leave!
