What a wonderful B&B! Kathryn was a superb host and gave us a lovely warm welcome. The room was spotless, comfortable and had every convenience you could ask for. There was an excellent slection of DVDs to watch including 'All creatures great and small!' We were offered fresh milk for our tea and coffee on arrival and given the use... More

Kathryn has an excellently run B&B. She is helpful, the roon was spotless, the breakfast was all fresh locally produced food. Thirsk is central to touring much of the North Yorkshire Moors, Vale of York and the Eastern parts of the Yorkshire Dales and you will find lots of helpful information available for you. We concur with all the other... More

What do you want in a B&B? A clean, quiet bedroom and modern bath but with some charm too? This had it all including a friendly host. You want a lot of extras? Let me count the ways the Gallery B&B came though... Everyone wants a clean modern bath - Gallery's extra was a shower with hand hold spray and... More

Kathryn is a delightful and friendly hostess. We got the sense that nothing would be too much trouble. She served delicious breakfasts, with the days newspapers laid out for us. Our room was cosy and very pleasant, and very well decorated, with plenty of tea, coffee etc. We would stay there again in a shot. The parking took a bit... More

It was raining cats and dogs on the night I reach by train and I was not sure how to reach Gallery. Kathryn was so kind to offer to picked my up to my relief as it was dark, wet and I was panicking as I did not have my map and therefore quite lost. When I was my room,... More

Although I can't always offer to collect from the station, as I run The Gallery on my own, in this situation I was more than happy to help and glad it was so much appreciated. So pleased you enjoyed your stay at The Gallery and Thirsk! More

We stayed for one night whilst visiting family in the North East. The venue is nice and central with plenty to see in a 30 minute walk. The property is opposite James Herriot's old surgery - as is well reported - but is also a couple of houses up from the birthplace of Thomas Lord, known to all cricket lovers... More

Thank you! The house next door is indeed the birthplace of Thomas Lord and also the home of Thirsk Museum full of fascinating things about Thirsk and life in the past! It is now closed for the winter but will reopen at Easter 2012. Well worth a visit! More

A really fantastic b&b. Decided last minute to go away for a night with my partner. We felt very welcomed and the room was perfect. A very comfy bed with a decent sized bathroom and shower en suite. Choice of tea's, coffee hot chocolate and biscuits. It's perfectly located only minutes away from the shops and bars. We went to... More

I stayed in The Gallery for 7 days. I wanted to visit Thirsk, York and attend the James Herriot convention over the weekend. The house is central to travel, food and Herriot museum if one is without a car. There is ample parking in car park behind the house and luggage can be dropped off before parking if one is... More

This place is brilliantly situated for a visit to the World of James Herriot museum, which is just across the street. The room is spacious with nice bed linens although the bed is a little soft. The bathroom is also quite spacious with nice toilet amenities. The ceilings are rather low so you do have to be a bit careful... More

Thank you for your review. We're glad you love the croissants, they're a recent addition to our menu and are proving very popular! Thirsk can be quiet but there are some good bars and restaurants as well as the wonderful volunteer run 'Ritz Cinema' showing the latest films. More
