My husband and I stayed at the inn and ate at the restaurant one night last week. In total, I spoke to about 5 or 6 members of staff and all - without exception- were responsive, friendly and helpful. This, to me, shows that the culture of the place is genuine. The room we had was wonderful, and the food... More

Having booked this hotel on a recommendation a few months ago, I arrived and was very nicely surprised ! The place is really beautiful, in lovely surroundings. Real picture postcard stuff Check in was painless and we were immediately shown to our room, room 5 ! Again this was very nice, however, when I booked the room I did request... More

My partner and I discovered the plough following a recommendation from a friend a couple of years ago. Since then we have visited several times and have generally been very happy with both the food and service. However, we were both bitterly disappointed by the quality of service following a problem with one of our meals during a recent visit.... More

We were celebrating a birthday so chose one of our favorite Peak District pubs for lunch. We have been visiting The Plough for some years - in fact every time we visit the Peak District from the South of England. We booked a table in the bar area as we always enjoy the atmosphere. The meal was up to the... More

I have been to this pub 3 times now and every time the food has been good. The rib of beef for 2 comes with a hefty price tag but was beautifully cooked and I would have no hesitation recommending it. The service is not rapid, its not fast food, today they seemed definitley understaffed. But its worth the wait... More

My husband and I stayed one Friday night. We chose The Plough as it's location was convenient for where we needed to be the next day and it allows dogs in the bedroom and in the bar area. From check in it was apparent that the staff were extraordinarily friendly and helpful and this continued throughout our stay. The room... More

This one the best pub/hotels in the Sheffield area. A well-balaced menu..yes,thin on the veggie front.Good range of wines and beers. I enjoyed a meal of duck liver parfait, followed by fish and sorbet. The servce was swift and courteous. Mine host was welcoming and humorous. It is in a beautiful setting and appears to be a typical old, stone... More

We booked in advance for 4 adults and 2 children for a Sunday lunch. We had a vegetarian in our party, and were surprised to see only one option on the menu of 9 dishes. When we asked if there were any other options the waiter said that "no-one caters for vegetarians on a Sunday, it's all roasts". We were... More
