This pleasurable day started with the drive through some spectacular scenery and the arrival at the pub. A traditional stone building set in beautiful countryside at the foot of Kinder Scout. Everything was perfectly balanced, staring with our welcome: we were made to feel welcome by the owners Tom and Stella. This was an honest welcome without them over fussing... More

I visited the Lantern Pike Inn on my first of fifteen days hiking in Britain. I received a warm welcome from Tom, the owner, and his wife, Stella. After stowing my gear in my room, I joined local patrons in the bar and had a pleasant afternoon in a pub that had a nice mixture of tradition and comfort. Both... More

We stayed for 2 nights on our way to Bath. Lovely old Inn in great location close to Buxton with lots of walks around. Food was outstanding, freshly cooked. Friendly staff and owners.

I had booked a table here for Saturday evening of May bank holiday to take my Grandmother out for a meal. Firstly there was no convenient parking and it borders on dangerous on that busy road. When I popped in the pub to ask if it was ok to park out the front, the miserable looking bar manager snapped at... More

I enjoyed a business Lunch in this beautiful cosy pub last week, it was so picturesque and scenic, the fire was on whilst we ate and it had a really friendly atmosphere, the bar man Mark was very friendly and stood and had a chat to us whilst taking our order, Tom the landlord showed us around the b&b rooms... I really can’t let this one go without responding, but what is not acknowledge was that the dog had been up and down on the furniture, the owners had been asked by the Barman to please get the dog under control. When I entered the bar after a full one minute of barking from the dog (which I heard at... More

The rooms were grubby, tiny and very dark, everywhere was filthy and dusty The first room we were put into the shower leaked so badly it was coming through the ceiling of the hallway. When we told the Landlord he come into the room with a tube of sealent and tried to stop the leak! We pointed out that the... More

I'm somewhat disappointed with the timing of this review, the visit was April 2011 but this review was posted January 2012. There is no question that the rooms at that time were not where we wanted them to be in terms of cleanliness, we had just emplyed a new Housekeeper who was with us for no more that 6 weeks,... More

The owners and staff are all excellent - very welcoming and friendly. En suite bathrooms definitely need bringing out of the 70s and a decent shower that offers more than a trickle of water would have helped. Food was very good & can recommend the full English breakfast. It's in a lovely location and the staff really are very good... More
