We were dining at a nearby restaurant with a group of friends when disaster struck - they had run out of ice cream and I had promised our toddler he could have some (when it was on the menu). I wandered out to see if I could find a shop but none were open. I went into the Castle Hotel... More

Stayed here for a few days at start of April, when it snowed. The staff were so helpful. Our preferred route to drive home was blocked and we had to come back to the hotel. They helped us figure out a different route, gave us free coffee, and offered to keep a room for us in case we had to... More

This was our fourth stay at the Castle. The room was spotless and the cleaning staff were very efficient and friendy. The management were friendly as usual and accommodating, however we did notice a drop in the general level of professional customer support from the general staff. I have always noted how hard the staff work at the Castle so... More

Have just returned form a 2 night stay at the Castle and had an enjoyable stay. Part of the innkeepers lodge chain, this is the 4th inn we have stayed at and all have been good. We stayed in room 8 which was large on the ground floor and had a big bathroom with full size corner bath. I believe... More

I had decided I would take myself up to The Dark Peaks to tackle Mam Tor, stay in Castleton and have a pub lunch for my birthday. That was the plan anyway. I checked in to The Castle, who had very friendly helpful staff and the room was perfect. Spacious, quiet, clean, comfortable bed and the menu looked appetizing and... More

Have just returned from a week's holiday here and were very impressed with both the room and the service. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the room very cosy and clean, and the views across to Mam Tor from the dining room window were breathtaking! The Continental breakfast was lovely, with a wide selection to choose from, and endless... More

Visted Castleton for some more hill walking and Real Ale in Cosy Pubs. This time we stayed in room 8,in the utside annexe. This room was one of the Jacuzzi rooms in the past. But now they have now been removed, but with a normal bath big enough for two. Would recomend this room for its size and location. Only... More

We stayed here on Sat 4th Feb in room 12. The room was cosy and warm with great views of mam tor. When we arrived we had a friendly welcome from the staff and a lovely log fire warming the pub. Dispite the snow we headed out for a walk, Castleton looked like a perfect picture postcard in the snow... More

Much better than some pubs in castleton. Lovely roaring real fires, warm pub, proper atmosphere and excellent food. Proper real traditional fixtures and fittings, no fakeness about at all. Great service, nice to see somewhere in Britian hasn't gone completely polish !. The girl doing breakfast was a bit slow ignoring people who wanted to order a cooked breakfast, she... More

Sorry to say this was VERY disappointing. I checked a month earlier that the venison was still on the menu as that was the sole reason for booking the table. I was assured it was available to the end of March. When we ordered the meal, needless to say the venison was off the menu (Jan 28th). Then I was told... More
