What a fantastic place fantastic host Sam she could not do enough to ensure all your needs were met and more. The Barn where we stayed was emaculate. From the bedding to the organic soap, hand wash, body lotion, shower gel. Brilliant. Breakfeast was to die for, all organic, all home grown. The only word to describe Candlewyck is FANTASTIC !!!.... We were so impressed by candlewyck and stayed in the barn annexe for 3 nights. The room was beautifully appointed with excellent quality towels (white company!) and bedding. The locally sourced, sedburgh toiletries were so nice and a treat to use. The room was very well equipped and spacious too. The view out of the window each morning of fields,... More

Spent just one night here with our two year old, couldn't have chose a better place. Although it was only the one night it felt like longer because it was so relaxing and comfortable, we were really made to feel at home. We even got to see the pigs being fed! Would definitely return, especially for the delicious breakfast.

Our first visit to Candlewyck Barn was provided as a two night birthday treat to explore the Furness Peninsula in some comfort and style, which Candlewyck provided in abundance ! It's hard to add to the many favourable comments already provided by previous travellers except to say they are all true. We stayed in the main house in a beautifully... More

We have just spent a perfect anniversary weekend at Candlewyck on the recommendation of my sister. We stayed in the Barn Studio and it was fabulous - a real oasis of calm. It is perfectly situated in a location that is rural and yet only a 10 minute walk into Ulverston. We spent a lovely few hours at the Buddhist... More

Our second visit to Candlewyck. With our two children (15 and 10), we had another fabulous time. Sam Duncan knows how to look after her guests. Our rooms were spotless, the breakfast (organic) delicious and the house itself is delightful. A great base for travelling around and Ulverston has some great restaurants within walking distance. I am a travel snob... More

Since our first wonderful stay at this exceptional B and B 18 months ago, we have escaped kids and work stresses and returned on several occasions, incuding this weekend. The barn is heavenly: decor, fittings and bedding would not be out of place in a five star hotel, and the breakfast could not be bettered. Sam is a fantastic host.... More

Thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Candlewyck. Sam made us feel very welcome. Candlewyck has great character and is beautifully furnished. Rooms were lovely and beds were very comfortable. Very peaceful at night. Breakfast in the morning was delicious. First class ingredients. We all agreed breakfast was the best we have had anywhere. Sam pays attention to every little detail and... We stayed in the barn at this lovely B&B which is detached from the main house so we had privacy whilst knowing help was at hand if needed. It was well furnished, spacious and clean and we were made to feel very welcome with fresh milk and even wine available on arrival. Breakfast was in the kitchen in the main... More

I simply cannot say enough about how lovely this place is. From the moment we arrived we felt comfortable and at home. Perfect locations, stunning accommodation and food, immaculately clean, easy 10 min walk to town. From the excellent dining recommendations (and bookings) from Sam even before we arrived, up until the moment we left it was faultless. You really... More
