A wonderful inn in the middle of nowhere really but within a short distance of many places to visit. Friendly, relaxed atmosphere. The owner and staff are extremely accommodating and nothing is too much trouble. Food is plentiful as is the real ale! The rooms are clean and comfortable and although this is a pub and frequented by the local...

We visited the Red Lion on Easter Sunday as a party of 12. Six adults and 6 children (ages ranging from 1-7yrs) What a fantastic little gem. The hotel was immaculate throughout; we had a lovely room with a good shower in the en-suite. It is situated on a quiet country lane between the lovely old market town of Ulverston & the quaint Lake district village of Coniston. We ate in the Red Lion in the evening & the food was good & plentiful.
We were at a wedding nearby so the location was perfect. The room was well decorated and clean, the staff were very friendly and the breakfast the next morning was amazing (and huge!)
We stayed here for a wedding in the area. The service was wonderful - they smiled happily when we arrived long before check-in. Steve, the friendly bar man, kindly offered to drive to us to and from the wedding ceremony. He was also a great help in giving directions. A very happy experience indeed. Oh - and the breakfast!!
