We took some friends for Sunday lunch. The place was packed but our meals came quickly and were very tasty as usual - a Sunday lunch like Mum used to make!! The sweets are to die for

My partner and I have stayed here before but when we tried to get in in January it was fully booked. We had however on our last visit had a very pleasant meal,so decided to eat there again with friend who are local. The service was to say the least terrible, the staff were not just slow but quite rude.... More

Stayed in the 2 bed cottage attached to the pub. Cottage was lovely, well equipped with 2 log burning stoves and all mod cons. Just what you'd expect for a 4*. pub was fab with great ambience, we ate in the spacious downstairs restaurant. Staff were attentive, considerate to our 4 yr old needs and food was excellent. Would definately... More

Stayed here with my wife and family. The pub has five rooms. If you're looking for a country pub in the middle of nowhere this is for you. Our rooms (1 & 2) were nicely decorated with freeview and an ipod dock. Two pillows were provided which is always a bonus not having to ask. Breakfast is pretty good too,... More

Arrived on a cold winters eve . Shown promptly to our room which was very comfortable and quite spacious. The bathroom was very clean and functional with all necessary provisions. We met up with friends in the evening and the dogs and children were both looked after well. The food in the bar area was quite expensive but very well presented and... More

Visited this pub/inn last week and although the beer was very good I was astonished to be charged £3.30 for a pint of bitter. I also had a meal at the pub, again the food was good but expensive for what it was. Had a look at the rest of their menu and they are charging top dollar for what... More

We were on holiday in the lake District and only ate here (didn't actually stay). My husband selected the White Hart because of the real ales & thought they were excellent but we found the food to be rather mediocre and the odd tasting chips lacked vinegar as we were told that we couldn't use it in the bar area... Just returned from an overnight stay at the White Hart. Lovely quaint village pub with old beams and very cosy. Me and my husband sat outside so we could watch our boys play on the park over the road. The kids loved it having somewhere to run around. The breakfast was delicious with lovely fresh produce. On the day of... More

We have just returned from a wonderful week discovering the Lakes, Hadrians Wall and a touch of Scotland. We stayed at several places and this was the VERY best. The rooms were wonderful and so clean and fresh. The beer was GREAT with a very good choice and the food was absolutely lovely. The scrambled egg at breakfast was simply... More
