I have just returned from 3 days of glorious February sunshine in the Lakes. Crookey Cottage was the perfect starting point for long dramatic walks and a lovely place to return to in the evening. Hazel and Eddie are working hard to give their B&B a touch of something different and individual, the cottage is welcoming and very comfortable but... More

Spent three nights in Crookey Cottage's ensuite guestroom on a solo walking holiday and had a fabulous time! With the second guestroom empty it felt more like a private cottage than a room in a B&B. Hazel and Eddie were very welcoming, serving up amazing breakfasts every morning and offering plenty of local knowledge. I particularly enjoyed Eddie's fine selection... More

Approaching Crookey Cottage you just know you wont be disappointed. It's a treasure. After a warm welcome from Hazel we knew we'd found a gem. The setting is amazing. The lovely old cottage has an ethereal quality which cant be conjured up. Hazel and Eddie (who we unfortunately missed) are obviously putting their hearts into this business and it shows.... More

A true gem of a place. Eddie and Hazel made us feel so welcome nothing was a problem to them. Drying all our very wet clothes after completing some of the coast 2 coast. Breakfasts are tremendous and bed very comfy just what you need after a hard days trek. A lovely sitting room with a wood burning stove permanently... More

We had 3 wonderful nights here, being an ancient farmhouse, it has wonderful character, with all mod cons, the bed is bliss! There are walks nearby and footpaths right outside the door. We walked Place Fell and onto Howtown, catching the steamer back to Glenridding and a lovely walk to Crookey Cottagel . It's well off the beaten track but... More

The B&B is in a stunning location and perfect for walking straight out of the door. The room and bathroom were spotless and plenty of hot water for the shower. The bed was incredibly comfortable, as were the pillows. You get fresh milk with the hospitality tray which is a bonus. Breakfast is a feast, there is plenty to choose... More

A delightful cottage full of charm and authenticity. We were made so welcome. A home from home with wood burning stove, comfy chairs. Best poached eggs outside of the Savoy! Catered for my husband's special diet with imagination and care. We will revisit often.

The location of Crookey cottage is brilliant, with a 5 minute walk to Patterdale and a 15 minute walk to Glenridding. Eddie and Hazel at Crookey Cottage do everything they can to make you feel at home. They were very flexible with changing booking details to accomodate a night out on the hills which was then cancelled because of the... More

One of the most friendly and hospitable stays on our Coast2Coast walk and Eddie and Hazel could not have been more welcoming. Used to walkers and we were able to dry damp garments and boots, lovely wood-burner. Very comfortable room. Very good in all regards, great breakfast and packed-lunches, and advice on evening meal venues (the oub was excellent) Would... More

From early e-mails, adapting our booking more than once we knew this was a couple who looked after their guests. Very warm welcome at gone 11pm, log burner still going and a very welcome pot of tea. Rooms were spotless and bedding and pillows snuggly - just what you need after lots of walking in the beautiful surrounding area. Eddie... More
