We recently spent a terrific week at Yew Tree Chapel and could not recommend it highly enough. From the wonderfully quirky (yet fully kitted out) property to the great location which was perfect for long walks with the dogs.....there wasn't a single fly in the ointment. The owners David and Mary welcomed us warmly with home made biscuits which was... More

Location excellent for all walkers, it is on the Prennine Way and close to a disused railway line that is a great walk. House is excellent, with very thoughtful and caring hosts. Would love to return and would recommend to walkers and tourists

This B&B was my biggest concern when booking. It was the most expensive and I did not feel it would offer what we were looking for. Needs must and this is where we booked so we had to make the most of it. In terms of what a walker looks for in a B&B I felt they missed the mark.... More

This was an expensive stay for them because of the single occupancy of a twin room and the booking fees paid to Mac Adventure.. For the first night we charges £35-£45 per person. Large hotels can offer suites with private sitting rooms but our guests lounge is shared by all visitors and sometimes we talk to the guests! We have... More

Arrived after a hard days walking and the owners son made us very welcome with tea and cake as the owners were away and not returning till later that day. The room was small and the bathroom very small and we had to ask for towels as they had not been put in the room. David took us to the... More

We hand bake bread 2-3 times a week, when cooled it is frozen. The bread containd olive oil & is dusted with flour, does this look like mould if you are used to sliced bread! The bread is de-frosted in the refridgerator overnight. The sandwiches are placed in new clean sandwich bags following food hygene guidelines. If eaten same day... More

This is our 3rd trip to the "lakes" area in as many months, and our 2nd stay with Mary and David at Yew Tree. We would like to keep them a secret and all to ourselves, however this is not economically viable for them!!!!! Mary and David are fascinating people, both intelligent and amusing, with a unique style. Tea and... More

My brother, myself and a friend found this on a biker friendly website when we organised an inpromptu weekend motorbike trip to the lakes. David and Mary were excellent hosts and we made all the arrangements on the phone. The chapel is a fantastic and unique place. Breakfast was fantastic. They arranged dinner for us in the pub and drove... More

Quite a nice welcome but growly dog could have alarmed some people. The owners booked a table at the pub (over a mile away) and ran us there (we had had a day on the bike and did not want to get all togged up again). They didn't have a problem with this but relied on the generosity of the... More

We stayed here on the first and last nights of our holiday. Mary and David gave us a very warm welcome and shared home made biscuits and tea with us.(In fact Mary gave me the biscuit recipe to take home on our way back.) The breakfast was really good and it was nice to have home made bread on the... More

Beautifully renovated and converted chapel. Excellent breakfasts with plenty of choice served in a friendly atmosphere. Enjoyed a 2 night stay in very comfortable room. Good meals provided by The Kirkstyle Inn 1.25 miles along the old railway track now a foot/cycle track.
