Having stayed at the Inn for the last 4 years whilst en route doing the coast to coast I have noticed it has gone down in its standards, especially the shower and toilet facilities (there was black mould on the walls and shower curtain). We stayed here for weekend to attend a friend's birthday celebrations elsewhere in the village. The staff were all welcoming and friendly and the food was great. Nothing was too much trouble, even when twenty of us turned up for lunch with no notice.

Another great pub in Alston. Great service, good variety, fabulous ambience. Must go! The rooms must have a fabulous view and walking possibility as the back of the hotel faces a sports field.
