We flew into Margaree Airport, and were met by the owner Dave and driven back to the inn. The accomodations were fine, the food excellent, the staff helpful and friendly, and the music was out of this world. Highly recommended.

We love the Normaway! We traveled here in July with another married couple, and had a wonderful experience that we will always remember. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable, we were given many options of what to see and do while we were in the area - and a map so we could find it all. Upon arrival we...

I have been going to Cape Breton Island for years, initially with my parents after World War II. We stayed on a farm then in the magnificent Margaree Valley. My family returned a number of years ago with our own children, and have had wonderful summers in Margaree, Nova Scotia, often staying at the Normaway Inn. It is a delightful...

We were biking the Cabot Trail loop and stayed here one night. While the setting is beautiful and the lodge is charming, we just found the cabins a little too rustic for our taste and desired comfort. They are in need of renovations and it was the kind of place that just didn't feel clean. The food in the dining...

After a breathtaking tour of The Cabot Trail, we traveled inland for a one-night stay at The Normaway and we were extraordinarily pleased. From a US traveler's point of view, it was like leaving the California coastline and driving a few miles into a beautiful Vermont setting. The tree-lined road leading up to The Normaway was very welcoming. We were...

We stopped at a gift shop that referred us to the Dancing Goats restaurant in the Margaree area of the Cabot Trail. We found the restaurant around 6 pm and had a lovely supper of homemade soups and sandwiches on fresh bread - delicious. Too full for dessert, we took some scones and muffins with us for the morning. As...

What a wonderful peaceful place. The 250 acre grounds and building are impeccably maintained. The Inn is on the famous Cabot Trail and central to many day trips. We stayed in a room in the main Lodge building which reminded me of a grand hunting lodge in the 20's, complete with common lounge room, fireplace, and full book shelves. The...

We were greeted most warmly and given the choice of a cabin or a room in the lodge. We chose the cabin because we thought it would be quieter. It is in a beautiful setting and convenient for the Cabot Trail but in need of some restoration.
The restaurant is advertised as 'Fine Dining' but certainly wasn't when we were...

We only had dinner here. The grounds of the Inn are very beautiful as you are driving in and the views from the dining room are through large windows that look over the grounds. The menu is limited and a bit pricey but very good with fair offerings of beer/wine. Dave the owner is a great guy and will probably...

My husband and I stayed here with 16 friends on a bicycle tour around Cape Breton Island. We stayed in the lodge and it was very comfortable. Had fresh-caught salmon for dinner in the restaurant and it was delicious. Breakfast the next morning was great, with house made granola, yogurt, rhubarb preserves, and fresh bread straight from the oven. Celtic...
