No sign on the door. A forbidding-looking iron grille. But once through you find yourself in an architectural gem house. The sweet retired couple who caretake the house said it had been designed by the famous, ubiquitous Geoffrey Bawa. It could very well have been. Polished cement floors, ingenious detail (eg marble-topped window seats with discreet cupboards beneath) and open... More

We had a wonderful stay at The Lodge in Mt Lavinia. Our only complaint would be that we didn't stay long enough! The rooms are tastefully decorated and we had a lovely little balcony off our rooms. Loved the comfy four poster bed and free wi-fi is always a bonus. The hosts were incredibly gracious and my partner loved sitting... More

I really enjoyed my stay here. The hosts were so gracious. My only complaint was that there was only one channel on the TV! Other than that, the room was cosy and comfy and we loved the patio. It is walking distance to the Mount Lavinia Hotel and also beach. You may hire tuk tuks right outside the hotel and... More

Great location near Mount Lavinia Hotel. I stayed in the suite on the top floor. Very nicely decorated room. Great restaurant next door. Very comfortable. A little hard to find, no signs, but look for La Rambla restaurant. Entrance is next door. Friendly hosts. It's like a homestay. Only negative comment is no hot water last night or internet facilities... More

I stayed at Mount Lodge for one night only before a wedding being held at the Mount Lavinia Hotel. Mount Lodge is situated less than a 3 minute walk away, you can see the entrance as soon as you step outside. We stayed in the suite on the top floor and it was beautiful with it's own lounge area and... More

Is within sight of the Mount Lavinia Hotel… but is happily set back a little from the railway line. We had the spacious top floor suite, which was light and airy and housed the top of the mango tree the house is built around! Stay here if you prefer to be south of the city (Colombo 3 district a $4... More
