We took a lakeside cottage and paid more, even though the lake was dry. We found the cottages very isolated from everything and it didn't feel ery comfortable. I went back to ask what to do in case of an emergencie. 'We would be fine' was the answer. There were two other cottages rented, it felt very isolated and lonely.... More

Stayed here for one night and certainly did not get the resort accommodation experience we paid for ($170pn for three people). Admittedly the weather situation was unusual (damaging thunderstorms for the region) but there was no infastructure to handle emergencies. There was no power the whole time we were there...nothing..no cooking (bbq in open..rain), no refrigeration, no air con etc.... More

The apartments themselves are clean and tidy. The big let down are the beds. The mattresses are old and worn and are crying out to be replaced. If you are after some peace and quiet off the beaten track then this is the place to stay. You are 1.8 kilometres from Wave Rock smack bang in the middle of the... More

As a group of 2 adults and 4 kids under 4... crazy... yeah we thought so too.. the 2 bed unit was perfect! Large enough to let them run riot without too much bother inside. Has all the creature comforts you need such as a newish tv and dvd player. Kitchenette big enough to cater for 6. To call it... More

Well the rooms are clean and tidy, bbqs near by, close to the rock. Service at check in was very rude and unwelcoming. The food in the shop was highly overpriced. I would stay again but would BYO food etc from outside. Perhaps a better attitude from the head lady staffer would attract more business.

We made a late booking as the trip to Esperance was a little to far after leaving late from Perth. As we asked for cheap accommodation, a self contained 2 bedroom cottage by far exceeded our expectations. We would recommend Wave Rock Resort to anyone who can handle a quirky experience. "resort" is probably the last description I would use... More

Definitely plenty of your own space (between cottages), well laid out and plenty of room on the inside, mildly dated decor, nothing too severe though. The owners also own the motel & bistro (in Hyden) & Caravan park at Wave Rock, speaking of which - reception for the cottages is at the caravan park, don't drive all the way in... More

We stayed in an ultimate lakefront cottage In Wave Rock Resort. The cottage is located next to a dry salt lake and you pay an exclusive price to look out over this. The cottage was very dark and not very attractive. They allowed our dog to stay, however outside. At the same time they have mice baits which we found... More

It appears that there is common ownership (or at least management) of the motel (in town), the caravan park (near Wave Rock), and the resort (in a dismal swamp). Reviews of the motel were poor, so we opted for the resort. We had to pay the full rate of $165pn even though we only used 1 of the 2 bedrooms,... More

This 'resort' is in the middle of nowhere. We booked for 1 night in the lakeside chalet, as a base to seeing the geographical formations in the area (Wave Rock, Mulkas Cave etc). It is a great location for all that, without having to go into Hyden proper, but because of this, it is isolation at its best. You pick... More
