Stayed here recently. Picked this b&b because I fell in love with the sister propery in Ockracoke, The Castle. The location is great, view and distance from the beach is awesome. The off season on the Outer Banks is a wonderful time to visit. It is not crowded and the local shops and restaurants are still open (most of them!). We stayed at the First Colony again at the New Year Holiday. This place is wonderful. The Inn has an interesting background and has a nice charm to it. We had a wonderful stay at the First Colony Inn. It's very handy for the beach, and the breakfast and afternoon teas were great. The room was comfortable and clean, and the staff gave us good advice on where to go locally.
