We have been staying here for years. We always get a bunkhouse cabin. Host are friendly, helpful, and most of all we are one big family. Can't wait until we go again...

My husband and I spent 2 nights at Mile High Campground. We had a large campsite with a small fire ring and a beautiful view. The campsites are well spaced from each other. The bathrooms are pretty rustic, made of plywood, and the potty rooms, at least were clean. The shower rooms were kind of gross--I had my shower shoes... More

This was our first time here, and our first time in the Smokies. We considered the NP's Balsam Mountain campground, but after checking it out, glad that we stayed at MHC. We were tent camping, but noticed every kind of mode there - rv's, popups, 5th wheel, etc. Pro's: great views, outstanding hospitality, interesting wildlife sightings, QUIET, sites had privacy,... My Brother and really enjoyed our 5 night camping trip, beautiful views, quiet, I wish I brought a bike. Did get a little windy on the mountain top in Oct to be expected.

Mile high campground has nice views and is quiet. Our trip was great. The bath house needs to be updated but the showers were hot. We thought the price was high for primative camping and heard the price is going up even more next year. Not sure if we are going back because of the price.

Well, my riding friends just finished a two night stay at Mile High Campground. It was not the best experience I have had touring on my bike and camping. The campground was not kept up, the cabins are really run down and the areas set aside for pitching a tent are really not ideal. I have had much better experiences... More

The title gives you the 3 reasons to select this campground over the nearby Balsam Mtn. Campground on Smokies National Park. This is NOT KOA or Jellystone, so if you are looking to stay at a resort campground, go elsewhere. The facilities are better than the Smokies NP facilities, but not as nice or extensive as some other national parks... More

My girlfriend and I were looking to travel from Atlanta to the Smoky Mountains this past weekend and spend our two nights camping. We decided on the Balsam Mountain area and reviewed the two main camping areas; the Balsam Mountain campground run by the park service and the Mile High Campground just outside the park, and about 8 miles down... I almost hate to write this for the fear that They won't have a spot for me next time. We had read the reviews here, naturally, and headed on out. All I can say is that the views are incredible, the host great, the facilities are rough but they have hot water, firewood, and toilets. Away from the crowds, not... More

This campsite was wonderful. Although we could not get a site with a view, there are plenty of beautiful views throughout the campground. Next time I will try to get site T1. It's a tent only site with a gourgeous view of the mountains. The staff was very friendly. Great place to camp!
