From the moment we drove through the narrow, unsealed road leading to the retreat, we said "well, this is just the kind of place we need". It's located near top wineries along Scotsdale road and not far from other places we went to, but what we loved was how it was just encapsulated in nature. We were just 1 of 4 chalets, we stayed in Tingle which is located highest on the slope - so a benefit in my mind. Every morning we watched their farm animals graze the extensive grounds, and at times, they came up pretty close to the chalet. The chalet itself was tastefully furnished, fully equipped, and the kitchen had oil, spices that came in handy for cooking and enjoying the lovely wines we picked up along the way. Basic toiletries are provided, and when we noticed there was no hand wash in the bathroom, we merely asked Adam (the owner) the next day, and he gave us a new bottle. So just ask if anything is missing. The owners are super friendly, so is their adorable goldie who decided to run up to our chalet one day! Just a teeny note, if you're a total city dweller like me, it is a little "scary?" driving up and down the steep, tiny, dirt road leading to the retreat if you're not used to it, so best to arrive during daylight and we also intentionally changed our dinner reservation at Pepper and Salt to lunch because there are no lights in the forest area, naturally, and we were not comfortable driving out in pitch darkness from the retreat. Also, the owners will give you detailed instructions to find the place, follow them and you'll be fine! Great stay of our recent Great Southern trip!…
