I arrived at the Ziad at 9.20pm one June evening without reservation and was quoted S£1700 for a twin-room for one person B&B. I thought it a little pricey but given the lack of knowledge about the hotel scene around the area – there are a few but I couldn’t be bothered to go round to all of them with... More

The Hotel Ziad is a joy and a blessing to find in this small town next the the mighty Euphrates. It is efficiently run with good staff. The rooms are roomy and spotless and the beds so comfortable we just wanted to sleep! The air-conditioning worked brillantly and the windows shut out the noise well too. Sadly for us we... More

End of May, the temperature in dusty Deir Ezzor stays around 40C°. Given the very limited choice of accommodation in this town and knowing the sadness of the state run Cham Hotels, we decided - on the bases of the previous positive reports on trip advisor - to give Ziad Hotel a chance. This was a big mistake. At arrival... More

We stayed 2 nights in April. The room was very spacious, overlooking the roundabout with fountain and the canal. Bed was large and comfortable, and the bathroom reasonably clean and functional. Generally a comfortable retreat from the wind blown dust engulfing the town during our visit. Breakfast was unremarkable - eggs but no yoghurt. It is a pleasant walk to... More

Our hotel room at Ziad was spacious, clean and came with a hot shower. The hotel staff don't appear to be all that welcoming at first, but do what they are supposed to. The whole situation where the aircon/heating is switched on and off from the reception is very odd, but the windows do open so there is some possibility... More

Rooms, sheets and bathrooms were clean. Front desk staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very good. Parking right in front. Beds were comfortable. Showers were hot. Rooms were quiet. Rate was $50US for a double with private bathroom. It seems to be the only choice in Deir Ez-Zor. Even the locals we met told us that the other hotels... More

Clean and comfortable and a very welcome site after our run-in with the police at the bus station. However, I digress. As has been said, the staff, especially hazem, the manager, are not very welcoming. Our guess is that they don't get many indie travellers, mostly locals and tour groups (rushing thro). Not at all helpful with transport down to... More

Intended to stay in this hotel 2 nights as a stop in Deir is necessary to see Mari and Dura Europos. Our room was very clean, the beds were comfortable and it looked onto the roundabout below but as it was winter we had no need to open the windows so did not experience any noise. Knowing the situation with... More

We had a medium sized corner room. The room was tidy but not spotless. The hotel is fairly new, I say about 10 years old but things have not be maintained well. The bathroom floor flooded each time we had a shower because the curtain wasn't long enough. The beds were comfortable. The breakfast was average. Overall I'd say that... More
