Mirepoix is a stunning bastide town, beautifully preserved and well used by locals and visitors alike, who lounge around the large central square solving the world’s problems while they bask in the sun. The place to stay in Mirepoix is Hotel Le Commerce, a traditional French hotel with a lovely creaky wooden stair, wide corridors and large rooms opening out,... More

Le Commerce is a lovely hotel to arrive at, with its tree-shaded courtyard and lovely old polished wood bar. It is right next to the cathedral, just off Mirepoix's picturesque main square. The furniture in our room was old and of good quality. The wallpaper and carpet were also old and... not in great condition. The wallpaper looked downright grubby.... More

We used to eat regularly at Le Commerce restaurant up to 15 years ago when we had a home in the Mirepoix area so when we returned this summer chose to stay there for two nights. It was lovely. It's not a chic hotel, it's old fashioned and very slightly shabby - but in a completely acceptable way and very... More

We booked this shabby old-fashioned hotel for one night, but ended up staying five (in two chunks) ... once they'd changed our room, that is. The first room (at the back) overlooked a scruffy courtyard in which an elderly dog left little smelly piles everywhere. When we complained about this and a loose loo seat, we were moved to a... Overall it was a scuzzy place, charming as a family run place in France might be with an ok looking normal restaurant downstairs (we didnt eat there though), however rooms were like you might expect above an average British pub. The climb to our rooms at least was dingy and carpets are pretty awful to be frank (rooms included). Friendly... More

I must say that the people in the Hotel as well as the restaurant were fantastic. It's an old building, and as such, the entrance and staircase up to the rooms were beautiful, with wood railings and steps that had aged beautifully. The room was a surprise, specifically for the carpet; in dreary condition. It seemed like it hadn't been... More

Staying at this hotel was like stepping back in time. It has not been messed around with and is full of character as a result. We stayed for one night in the delightful town of Mirepoix and were delighted with our choice of hotel. Our rooms were clean, characterful and quirky and the beds wonderfully comfortable. We slept like logs... More

This hotel has been in family ownership for generations and Madame la Patronne, with old school propriety and charm, runs this hotel like a ship. The waitress staff are professional and are promptly and courteously attentive to requests. We took half board which included four courses – starting always with home made soup. The menu at this level was not... More

We only stayed for 1 night but really enjoyed it. The family shared a family room which was clean, warm, cheap and comfortable. Breakfast was a delight - the kids loved the old fashioned orange juicing machine and the coffee machine and we could have as much as we wanted - even the fussy eater was happy. We'd only ever... This is a lovely old French hotel that evoked memories of the days when Logis were 9FF a night! It's not that, of course, but does represent good value for money. Very little has been done to bring this place into the 21st century and it's all the better for that; I liked the creaky old staircase, the windows with... More
