I booked Mashriki because of reviews on trip advisor. The place has been done nicely but the services needs improvementand up liftment. Coffee took a long time during breakfast and we realised about other services as well. I am impressed with every thing but as I said it needs tio improve as the rooms are not cheap and I travel... Valuable Guest, we apologize for the inconvenience during your stay at the hotel and I wish to assure that we will take action to improve our service... but sometimes to prepare a cup of capuccino take more minutes than usual! Sorry for that. More

A must place to stay! The architect who restored this once palace shall be commended for the design and detail to simplicity . The rooms to rooftop restaurant are amazing. It's in a good location, quick walk to everything u need to see in Stone Town. My job takes me too five star hotels and this by far a 5+++++.... More

Very elegantly restored old building, with restrained decor and beautiful details. Has a pretty central courtyard with fountain and plants. Air conditioning and free wi-fi are a plus!! The rooftop terrace/restaurant/bar catches the breeze and has a lovely ocean view. It is located on an airy pedestrian street, just a short distance from where your taxi can park. (Some Stonetown... Beautiful hotel, very well located, excellent service, very friendly staff, magical oriental atmosphere. A real palace where I felt like a princess! This is a great place for photo shooting with various oriental and colonial style furniture, typical carved-wood doors and arabic lanterns. The room was large, with a seperate living room space. The best of all were the baldachin... More

Friendly and very helpful staff, beautiful architecture, large comfortable rooms with unique furniture and embellishments that provide a nice Arabic feel; however we wished for better quality bedding for a good nights rest. Breakfast served on the balcony with stunning view of the coast but the food was of average quality and selections were limited. Street entrance to hotel was... More

I had thought that this more modern take on the typical Zanzibari architectural style would not work as well as, say Emerson, but it does, and how. The architectural restoration of the building is indeed amazing and perhaps represents one of the most impressive buildings on the island. The rooms are palatial, the food impressive and the service impeccable. This... More

I stayed at the hotel while filming on location in Zanzibar. I have to say this place is amazing, beautiful building and design, excellent rooms and the staff and manager went out of there way to be helpful and accommodating. Overall a great experience and would highly recommend this hotel to anyone travelling to Stonetown.

This hotel is without doubt the most tasteful in Stone Town (I stayed one night at the Serena Inn too and visited both 236 Hurumzi and Emerson Spice.) The owners have clearly lovingly restored the building to its former glory.....and then some. The rooms / suites are very spacious and have everything you could need, including welcome air con after... More

I visited Mashariki Palace whilst out in Zanzibar filming. From the moment I entered I was struck by it's size. It's huge! But only houses a few dozen rooms, which means you don't only have a great degree of privacy and one-on-one treatment with staff, but you literally have your own adventure playground! Every turn, corridor and stairwell gives rise... More

I am a repeat guest of Mashariki Palace Hotel. Peter runs a tight and friendly team, going beyond the call of duty to accommodate their guests needs. You are instantly made to feel at home. Recently i returned with a film crew and was impressed how helpful and friendly the staff were. Mashariki is a stunning location for fashion shoots,... More
