Kisiwa House was beautiful and felt much more like a home than a hotel. It didn't offer some of the amenities that big hotels offer such as a pool etc but it is much more intimate and personal. The rooftop restaurant offers a spectacular setting and the food was delicious albeit not quite the standard I expected after reading some... More

We stayed at Kisiwa House on our last night in Zanzibar, and by far it was the best place we came across at the island. The personnel was helpful, rooms were very clean, food was delicious. We have been quoted $180, but the price we end up paying was $144. Zanzibar is the capital of bargaining, and unfortunatley nice hotels... More

Lovely hotel. Excellent and courteous staff. Located in the heart of stone town near all tourist attractions. Well appointed rooms, great bathroom facilities. Surprisingly, the hotel food was exceptional – excellent breakfast on the rooftop restaurant with an amazing view. We will certainly stay there again on our next visit.

We really enjoyed this hotel right in the heart of Stone Town, but away from the noisy front row streets. The staff were very accommodating, however the AC in the first room we had was not working properly and we had to change rooms. The staff told us the owners were about to replace all the AC's in each room... More

We stayed one night in a Malkia junior suite on the second floor. The room was quiet with good air conditioning. The room was very spacious and tastefully furnished and the building itself a lovely, restored 19th century mansion. Location was excellent. We were tired post-safari and dined on the hotel`s outdoor rooftop deck. Setting was lovely but the food... More

Just completed my brief stay in Zanzibar and was a little skeptical when I saw the outside of the hotel that I would be outdated (it's an older structure) but could not have been happier with my stay, I ne every part of the hotel, the staff was firndly and competent. Room spacious, well appointed and maintained. Food was terrific... More

We stayed 2 nights at Kisiwa House at the end of a 2 week holiday in Tanzania. The inn is in a nice location within easy walking distance to shopping and restaurants, and our room was quite nice with wonderful and reliable air conditioning. On the not so positive side, there was practically no water pressure from the shower, although... More

I have stayed in a number of hotels in Zanzibar and this one was just average. The staff was very friendly and the hotel is conveniently located, but it was way overpriced for what you get. I paid $180 USD for one room for one night for myself and my four year old son. The room was average; nothing like... More

Two days in Stone Town on our way to Pemba. We chose Kisiwa House with little idea of what we were booking, but we were looking for good value in a central location. Not only did we get that, we found a 1840s merchant house transformed sensitively into a beautiful hotel. Tucked down a side street, the first thing you... More
