My family and I enjoyed the extensive and carefully prepared breakfast. Our hosts were warm, friendly, and created a welcoming, family-like atmosphere. This B&B has a very comfortable and home-like feel. IT was very clean and well kept. As one reviewer noted, the rooms are small, but this is an older house (1850's I think) with lots of charm and... Having been familiar with the Gore Mt. area and looking forward to a weekend of skiing, we were lucky enough to have stumbled upon the Alpine Homestead. After a long journey we (a family of five) were greeted with an offering of cookies and hot chocolate by the friendly Mr. and Mrs. Mix. The entire house was immaculate and the... More

Our hosts were very hospitable and the place was impecably clean. The rooms on the other hand were much smaller than the pictures would have you believe. In fact they were so small I didn't have enough space to put my luggage away and still walk around the bed. They also keep the heat down several degrees too low for... More

Our first trip to New York: We stayed four nights at this lovely b & b to enjoy some High Peaks hiking. Peggy and Barry made our stay a warm and wonderful time. Breakfasts were amazing and huge. All baked goods were homemade and of the highest quality. Each of our four breakfasts was different and each was truly excellent.... More

Lodging options are scarce for hikers on the south side of the Adirondack High Peaks - add this to your short list! The Mix family offers their beautiful B&B, only 30 minutes from the important Tahawus trailheads. Comfy beds, wide verandahs overlooking lawns & gardens, generous living rooms w/ big screen TV. Rooms on the modest side, but you don't... More

This was our first time up to the Adirondacks and we heard about The Alpine Homestead through the rafting company we went rafting with. It was exactly what we were looking: a quiet and comfortable place to stay while we explored the area. While the house is lovely and very cozy, the Innkeepers Peggy and Barry made the stay extra... One of the best B&B's we've ever stayed at; wonderful hosts who are fun & friendly without being pushy or intrusive; delicious (and copious) breakfast; fantastic dogs to give pats to; and of course a beautifully restored property that is both relaxing (esp. front porch and living room) and interesting (lots of maps, guidebooks, and other things to read). Meeting... More

We had never stayed at a B & B before. We now have exceedingly high expectations for future B & B we plan on staying at. Every thing about this place was awesome. Barry and Peggy are wonderful hosts. They do not make you feel like strangers. Barry and Peggy's breakfasts are to die for. We did not eat until... More

We've just returned from the most amazing long weekend at the Alpine Homestead. This place is amazing. We were greeted with hot chocolate and cookies upon our arrival. In fact, we were served hot chocolate and homemade cookies every time we walked in the door - definitely a nice treat for the below-freezing temperatures, made all the more perfect by... More

This is a wonderful place to stay. The house is large but comfortable in scale, and meticulously renovated. The decorating is interesting, not like a Victorian museum, or frilly, or really "adirondacky" - more like an accumulation of memories. Every room is comfortable and invites you to sit and relax. Peggy serves a multicourse breakfast that would rival any upscale... More
