Zebra Plains was everything we could have asked for in a safari lodge. After staying in numerous safari lodges in several different countries we found one that met our every need. Extremely organized and courteous staff, comfortable but atmospheric lodging, and REAL walking! The guide Garth had more knowledge of wildlife biology the our previous guides combined. Everyday we would... More

This is the most fantastic place on earth ! .... No mobile phones ... and walking with the animals in their own environment. The animals mentioned by previous reviews are only seen in the South Luangwa due to the specIal circumstances of the region and are truly beautiful .. Garth our awesome guide helped us understand nature's nuances of the... More

Astounding, amazing, beautiful, tranquil and unique. Every detail is considered and the staff truly treat you like royalty. We could easily have stayed for a week and not just the 3 nights we had. I don't think anyone could not love this special place.

The four hour drive to get to this remote and beautiful camp in eastern Zambia is a brilliant start to a safari adventure with plenty to see and learn along the way - rare sightings of eland, Cookson's wildebeest and roan antelope just the beginning! Intimate and perfectly situated on the banks of the Luangwa River, Sanctuary Zebra Plains (Z.P.)... More

As part of our trip to South Luangwa in June 2011, staying at the Chichele Presidential Lodge and Puku Ridge, both part of the Sanctuary Retreats circuit, we spent two nights at the Zebra Plains walking safari camp in the north east corner of the Park. Although newly set up, the Camp was already functioning very efficiently with all the... More

When we decided to go on a safari holiday, we had friends who recommended we try a walking safari in addition to game drives. We booked the trip through Sanctuary Retreats who had a guide pick us up in Mfuwe, Zambia and drive out 3 hours to the South Luangwa. The drive out there is gorgeous and goes by fast,... More

Sanctuary Zebra Plains is without a doubt one of the most special places on earth! Our Kapaso (local name for the person who looks after the chief) was so welcoming and made sure our every need was taken care of. The food was the amazing – especially considering the camp has no electricity and makes use of an earth oven... More

The adventure started with the wonderful game drive(we started at Puku Ridge), the agents call it a transfer; but it is one of the best game drives. The time it takes depends on the wildlife! as the guides stop for all the interesting things on route. We were luck enough to be the 1st guests,so had no idea what to... More
