The way they treat the guides (and pilots) are just terrible. They put you up in an old dilapidated hut with broken taps and toilet, hotter than a sauna, no soap and old towels. You are loaded in a broken olf vehicle and treated like dirt. All guides - avoid this lodge, it is so Wilderness like.

We have a really good track record of hosting happy guides in our Kulala Desert Lodge guide accommodation. On the rare occasion where an issue has arisen, it has been brought to the attention of the managers and resolved immediately. We accommodate all guides and pilots in guest accommodation, at the normal guide fees, if there are rooms available. The... More

This resort is located in Namibia 14 km off of the main highway on their huge 20,000+ hectare  private concession near the spectacular red dunes of the Namib Nauklufft National Park including Soussesvlei & Deadvlei. This accommodation includes 16 luxury tents with in-suite bathrooms. The reception and dining area is large. The camp staff is warm with their typical Wilderness... More

We were part of a group of 11 and stayed for 3 nights. Kulala was the first of 3 lodges we stayed at while in Namibia and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The staff was friendly and attentive; the food fine although not gourmet. We had our activities planned as part of our tour so can't speak to the specifics of... More

We stayed here for two nights on our self-drive honeymoon in Namibia. We stayed only in high end lodges but Kulala was our "blow out"/special treat accommodation, and at approx GBP350 per night our expectations were high. First impressions were excellent. We were welcomed after a long drive trough the desert with friendly smiles, refreshing ice cold ginger beer and... More

We just got back from staying at Kulala Desert Lodge and I'm very sorry that it was disappointing. This was the lodge I was more looking forward to as a friend of mine have stayed at Little Kulala and praised the excellent location of both camps. In fact, when booking our whole trip (which included other parts of Namibia, Botswana... More

We stayed 3 nights at this amazing place. We drove from Windhoek and appreciate just how remote it is. The style is understated and allows the scenery to take centre stage. We found the welcome to be warm and friendly and the staff were excellent. Our guide, Petrus, was entertaining, informative and really good company. The sunset trips and the... More

We spent 2 nights at the Lodge situated in the midst of fabulous desert scenery, under a starry starry sky, a very short drive from the dunes in the National Park. The accommodation is spacious, well designed and, despite the remoteness, functions perfectly. The staff are well mening but somewhat reticent and not always well informed. The food in general... Stayed for 3 nights, which is 1 night more than most guests and 1 night too much. Excellent location to reach Sossusvlei...only way to get to there earlier in the morning is to camp inside the gates of the national park. Room is very basic...more akin to a "camp" than a "lodge". There was one usable electrical outlet in the... More

We have just arrived home from two week self drive tour of Namibia and started at Kulala Desert Lodge because as a keen photographer I had also been told that we could get access to the park through the Lodge's private gate. However, guests cars are not allowed through so you have to go on a pretty expensive tour with... More

The first leg of our recent safari started at Kulala Desert Lodge. We rented a Subaru SUV and dared to drive 6 hours from Windhoek. The drive was an adventurel all in itself, with drives over what they refer to as C roads and we joke sometimes Y roads. But that was part of the adventure. We arrived in Kulala... More
