Staff and food were outstanding. Unfortunately the place lacks of a little maintenance e.g. torn curtains, holes in the bedding, etc., which is sad, because it has lots of charm. We booked a family room but actually they just squeezed two more beds in a normal, rather small, bungalow, which is not comfortable as you cannot move around the room... More

Stayed here for two nights in early March. Reception was briskly conducted with a quenching welcome drink. Parking was not too close to the chalets, but the staff carried the luggage. Parking was under a central canopy to keep the vehicles cool. The chalet was furnished in a novel manner using what appeared to be local materials. It did not... More

The horse ride was our best moment of our whole stay. We went to several very good lodges but that one is very special, you feel immediately good, not too fancy, extremely clean, very good food, pool, cute and comfortable bungalows... We stayed inside sossuslvei park the night before, we did not pick desert homestead for sossusvlei (not the best... More

Stunning location in the desert, surrounded by mountains. Nice rooms, but those mattresses.... There is a dent in the middle from the people that were there before you. Instant turnoff.

Good welcome with drink, no formal booking in, took time to show us around & go through Dinner/Lunch menu. Had very good lunch, Open Sandwich. Rooms, thatched huts, are basic but clean & of a good size with Mosquito nets. Shower not brilliant, & limited flow of water. Large beds, hard but very comfortable. Dinner on first night was Biltong... More

We stayed at Desert Homestead & Horsetrails for two days at the end if July. It was an absolute pleasure. Big thank you to Seven, Abel, Janet & Johanna, but especially Seven who took such great care if us. Our rooms were lovely with a fantastic view out over the plains. We had insect repellent and mosquito nets which was... More

Quite simply put this place was beautiful. The surroundings were stunning and the staff were both friendly and enthusiastic. Very much recommended. Their tour of Sossusvlei was very informative and made the stay yet more perfect.

The first lodge of our trip and, although it was the lowest 'rated' we felt that it could hold its head up with all the others. Very friendly and helpful management, staff, and guide (although we were not expecting a detailed analysis of Arsenal's recent performance over lunch, we subsequently found that English Premiership Footbasll seems to be universally followed).... Real desert atmosphere. Comfortable huts. From your own deck you can watch a beautifull sunset. Food could be improved a little bit. But I don,t want to nag. And then the dunes. Fantastic

Very nice rooms and warm welcome. The Desert Homestead is well placed for visiting Sesriem and this is very easy to do on your own, but do go very early in the morning to get the best light. We quite liked our stay here but were not too enamoured with the food. It wasn't bad just not up to the... More
