In April 2012 we spent 3 nights at Kanga Camp in Mana Pools National Park. This really is a special little place. It is fairly remote, being 20-30kms from the nearest camp site. We didn't see another vehicle the whole time we were in the park. Set on a pan, the camp itself is beautiful. On arrival, it all looks quite small. And that is part of the attraction. There are just six tents which are beautifully appointed. We had a very comfortable king bed, double sinks, a sitting area and an outdoor bathroom - with bath and shower. The tent sides have three layers, mozzie-screen, canvas and curtains. You can choose how many layers you want between yourself and your noisy neighbours. We were kept awake by baboons, hyenas and leopards. However, we feet very safe inside the tent.
We were up with the dawn and kept busy throughout the day. The bush was quite thick and great for birding. We had excellent sightings of lilac-breasted roller, african hoopoe, red-billed wood hoopoe, paradise...
