Super camp with lovely accommodation, and the food produced by Pierre and his team was a cut above anything else. We had great game viewings with sundowner drinks with pride if lions playing around us Also great leopard sightings, and lovely interaction with elephant herd Only had 2 night wish we could have stayed longer

We arrived the same evening the buffalo herds returned after being absent for 4 days, so Duba lived up to its reputation for 'lion on buffalo action' daily. The dynamic of this pride is so strange it was good to get to see it before its demise. Hoping the genetic pool gets stirred up by some new male in the... More

This was our first time in Africa. We had James as our guide-007. We saw 18 mammals and 64 Birds In 3 days. James educated us on conservation efforts of the country and the history of the area as well as the habits Of the big cats. We saw lion cubs with their mothers, as well as the famous swimming... Our first night in Botswana we found lion stalking the cape buffalo. The buffalo scented the lions and stomped towards them. It went back and forth several times, but the buffalo won. The lions slinked off, with one surrounded by buffalo and a bit of suspense if it would be OK. It was OK, but the buffalo won and we... More

A wonderful time again. Duba was my first camp on my first trip to Africa in 2009. It did not disappoint. Although I did not sees kill I saw the buffalo and saw the lions including the male lion who still dominates over the area. The accommodations are more than enough. Although rustic very comfortable and luxurious in it's own... More

We spent 4 nights at Duba Plains in mid-September and found the overall experience very good. The camp was well run, the rooms clean, well appointed and big enough for the amount of time you actually spend in them. The lack of aircon was not a problem as there was enough through draft at night to keep the rooms cool.... More

We spent 3 nights here in middle of September 2012. It's one of the remotest camps in the Okovango Delta and coming from Chobe, we could certainly feel the reduced number of vehicles and tourists. The Delta itself was a welcome change from the much dry Chobe - it is much greener with lot of water around. All tents in... More

We stayed at Duba for the 2nd time this year in June and enjoyed it even more than the time before. Lions and buffalos on form, particularly the interaction early in the morning in the mist. James 007 was excellent. The new bridge has made a big difference beacuse water levels can be very high. We really appreciated the flexiblity... More

This intimate camp for 12 is set on this very unusual island in the Okavango delta. If you expect to see a great variety of game you will be disappointed. Although the birds are prolific and the Red Lechwe and Kudu well represented the the only real "game" in town is the lion -buffalo confrontation. The large herd of 1600... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Duba Plains Camp – Kwedi Private Concession, Northern Okavango Delta, Botswana. One of the most remote camps in the Delta, Duba Plains reveals a wealth of classic wildlife – as well as unusual carnivores and wonderful birds. Duba Plains is a small, intimate camp on a sandy island surrounded by expansive seasonally flooded plains and shaded by tall ebony, fig and mangosteen trees. Accommodation is made up of six tents complete with en-suite bathroom, outside shower, and intimate deck overlooking the floodplain. Pathways link the tents to the main area, comprising dining room, curio store, swimming pool and fireplace, all raised to take in the view across the adjacent Okavango channel. Duba Plains is the setting for the award-winning Joubert documentary Relentless Enemies, as well as Big Cat Odyssey and The Last Lions – all detailing the classic lion and buffalo interactions that can occur in the area. Coupled with this is fantastic viewing of uncommon small carnivores such as aardwolf, bat-eared fox and side-striped jackal. Herds of elephant feed on the islands, hippo concentrate in channels, tsessebe and wildebeest dot the plains, while red lechwe are found on the wetter floodplain fringe. Bird life is abundant and impressive. Experiencing amazing day and night game drives and seasonal boating activities. ... more   less
