The scenery is amazing and the tents very comfortable although it does not say anywhere on the website that they are 1km from the main lodge which is fine during the day but not so good to walk back at night. Bring a powerful torch as the one provided is useless. Our main complaint was the food. We have being... More

We were so glad we found this retreat. Driving up to it, some 20 kms outside Clan William, The view of the mountains got better and better until we knew this was exactly the area we were looking for. We were shown the small guest house and then the luxury tents further away. The tents are the way to go.... More

We spent 2 nights at Karukareb whilst touring in SA. The setting is wonderful in a tranquil valley with the Cederburg touring around you. But, the tents were a little smaller than we had hoped for a 4 star establishment - there was nothing wrong with the style of them, they were just a little smaller than we had expected.... More

Dear Ms Sebregts We are so sorry to hear that your stay at Karukareb was not what you anticipated. You book 2 x days at the rate of R 1155.00 per person per night dinner bed & breakfast on the 9th and 10th of April and not as stated in your review R 2300.00 per person per night. On you... More

We spent 2 nights here. It was wintertime and most of the world seemed pre-occupied with the FIFA World Cup, so we were the only guests on the reserve throughout our stay. We stayed in 'the Lodge', which is the converted original farmhouse; reputedly more than a 100 years old. This was a comfortable enough place to put up as... More

We got married in Yzerfontein, Cape Town and the day after the wedding we drove to Clanwilliam and Karukareb. We didn't have too much of high expectations, because of the wedding and everything else - we were preoccupied, but knew it would be nice. We arrived and were escorted to our private tent! But luxury tent it was with a... More

I brought my husband to see the stars, as he had never seem without light pollution. A really beautiful unspoilt wilderness - we stayed in a tent, but what a tent - beds, bath and wonderful views to the craggy rock outcrops. We swam in the mountain stream which was pure and clean, as was the air. A ranger took... More

We spent a few nights in a tented room. Only a couple of hours from CT and you feel close to the wilderness - great location, very quiet and with the river running right in front of the tents inviting you to take a dip this is a great place to 'chill out'. The staff were first class, very attentive... More

Spent 2 nights in one of the luxury tents and loved it. During our 5 week trip to South Africa we thought that this was the best all-round accommodation we stayed in. The tents are set in a beautiful valley by a stream. Main sleeping area is under canvass with brick built bathroom attached. The lights, fridge and kettle are... More

Stayed at Karukareb for 4 nights, stayed in both the tented camp, which are amazing. Food is simply amazing, never got the chance to thank the chef for the awsome food, fantastic service. The perfect South African hospitality, they never crowd you and they there when you need them. We had wonderful stay, the ranger took us up the mountain... More

We spent a weekend at Karukareb with friends and booked the "Lodge". The attention to detail was wonderful as well as all the little luxuries, coffee, tea, rusks and feather duvets. The meals were excellent and teh service topped it all. Nothing was too much and always done with a smile. Highly recommended. Henk and friends
