Our stay here came at the end of a very good fortnight in South Africa and we were very sad to leave on such a low note. This hotel is dreadful from top to bottom. This place is now a lodging house and has totally closed as a hotel. The former restuarant is across the road, under the same ownership but we didn't eat there. Should no longer be listed - we wasted a good deal of internet time finding out - had previously stayed there and loved it!

One of the very few places to stay in Clanwilliams, so this hotel relies on a 'captive audience' coming to the town - home of Rooibos, leather sandals and in springtime, the Namaqualand floral explosion in the Cederberg. They've just hasitly extended the hotel to include some 'self-catering' units in the back, where 'self-catering means you get a fridge and... More

I travel a lot, and was impressed with the wonderful surroundings of Clan William and the warm hospitality of the Clanwilliam Hotel. The room was neat; the food was great and the service excellent. Traveling on my own I sometimes feel sad and lonely, I did not lonely at all. Warm welcome made me want to stay longer. But I... More

We returned to the Clanwilliam Hotel this year after many pleasnt stays under the "old" ownership. The prices have increased sharply and the Standards have plummeted. We were put in the new rooms in the Annex , which are not really finished and have a stunning view of a concrete parking lot. The rooms were very dusty. There was no... More
