We stayed in the main lodge. Our room was in need of a thorough cleaning and refurbishment. Bathroom was tiny. We like staying in unique hotels and this certainly had some charm but more care in maintenance would go a long way. If you do stay here, make sure you hike on the rail trail in the trestle recreation area.

Quiet mountain retreat in a quaint village. Some local hikes and history to explore. The golf course looks challenging and fun. The bar and restaurant offered excellent service and good food. The Spa massages we got from Jim were top quality and therapeutic. This is a good place for weekend getaway, or as a place to visit on the way... More

The Lodge has a resident ghost, Rebecca, after whom the restaurant is named. It is said that the haunting is represented by 'mischievous' behaviour; lights flickering, misplaced items etc. Surely it was she who placed the hair in my pancakes for breakfast in the restaurant and provided the dressing- drenched salad the evening before along with the accompaniment of the... This is a very unique property. It is a historic luxury hotel in a small mountain town. The property is well worn and in only average condition. Walls in our room were dirty, window latches broken, excercise room floor was filthy. The linens were thick, spotless and high quality. Room carpet was newer and clean. The service and charm are... Only the computers, phones, ... give away that the times have changed, everything else is well kept up and the front desk night clerk was very helpful and gave us a late night tour of the place. Clearly he is proud and knowledgeable to work there.

My wife and I stayed here for a week on our honeymoon and we had a great time. We stayed in the cabins which are down the road from the main hotel. The room was spacious and well appointed. I enjoyed being away from the main hotel because it offered more privacy. We used Cloudcroft as a main base to... More

This beautiful historic hotel has a very nice staff and quaint rooms. The first place we went to after our room was the tower. This place was very dirty and there were dead bugs everywhere: in the display cases and picture frames. It appears they NEVER clean this room. This is in February, the bugs hadn't been out in months... More

A beautiful spot to relax! I have stayed at The Lodge several times over the years, and it continues to impress. Friendly, helpful staff, clean and tastefully decorated rooms that maintain the historical character of the property, and lovely common areas make this one of my favorite historic hotels.

The lodge definitely has some character! The mountains were beautiful and the people at the hotel and in the town were so friendly! The rooms were small but clean. The ceiling fan was out of control the first night and the tv kept going off and on!

We were surprised and pleased at the accomodations during our four day stay at this 100 yr. old remodelled historical resort. The location at 9300 ft,elevation is ideal with the deepest blue skies and forests of very tall ponderosa pines enveloping your environment. Situated in the Lincoln National Forest and home of the 1900 through 1947 Almagordo/Cloudcroft railroad route, the... More
