At first appearance, this hotel looks like it might be a good bet, but it doesn't take much to peel away the true layers. The room was large, and had a big screen t.v., and was reasonably well appointed--but the shower was moldy and there were other signs that the cleaning had been ignored. I probably would not be as... This was one of the worst hotels I've ever stayed in. The sheets were too small for the mattresses, so when you slept they would wrinkle up under you and you would be laying directly on the the bare mattress. It was hot when we were there so we opened up the door and window. The problem with this is... More

Like a recent Reviewer Krull we are old Asia hands having travelled, worked and occasionally lived in SE Asia and the Indian sub continent for 30 years. This was, without doubt, one of the most disgusting hotels I (we) have ever stayed in. Surpassed only by a hotel in Aranyaprathet on the Thai Cambodia border which I stayed in 25... More

The hotel is simple but in a nice setting. The food was dull. This is basic, expect no more. More

We stayed two nights in November. We stayed in a cabin with nice views...and a tv! The room was small'ish, and certainly not modern, but it was what we expected. Most important, it was clean. Yes the hotel is used by tour groups, western and Indian, but we didn't find that a problem. It wasn't noisy, and the buffet at... More

We are seasoned travelers to SE Asia and other places in the world and generally can tolerate a great deal but this hotel was horrendous for many reasons. The bathroom ceiling was black with mold as was the rotted window frame with a cracked pane of glass and then one panel of the shower door fell out as I tried... More

Our room was separate to the main building and was quite dark but this was mainly caused by the wood paneling on the walls. The shower was fabulous and there was even a view of the garden whilst showering. There was a leak under the bathroom sink but leaks in bathrooms in Bhutan are very common. We never heard any... We were at the hotel Zangdopelri for 2 nights in November. We were given a very large upstairs room in the main building. It had a balcony however the evenings were too cool to sit out on it. Our room and bathroom were very clean, comfortable beds, lots of hot water and included a TV! The food was fine -... More

I stayed here with a group, first in the main building, and then on the way back, in a cabin. The service was friendly and prompt; I had a problem with a washbasin that was fixed promptly but took a few people to do it. I had room service for lunch one day-- seven courses plus a liter of bottled... More

We had a nice room upstairs with a huge balcony. The climate here in Punakha was more comfortable in October than other places in Bhutan - the air was dry and pleasant. The staff was very friendly and helpful. More
