We were looking forward to our one night stay and were not dissapointed. Jackie and Stephen made us very welcome and had even taken the trouble to book us into a local resteraunt for dinner . The rooms are fantastic, all different and just off the lovely garden. So many extra special touches like homemade shortbread in the room ,... More

This was our second visit to the Hideaway and we found it excellent yet again. Jackie and Stephen are great hosts, and arrange meals and suggest what to do in the area. The rooms are lovely and there are many little extras, including free wine and conversation before you venture out for dinner The breakfasts are massive and there is... More

We thoroughly enjoyed our night at the Hideaway and wished we could have stayed for at least one more night. There is very little information to be found on Swellendam in the regular guidebooks but if you need to know more, Stephen is incredibly knowledgeable on the surrounding area. We stayed in Double Delight, named after a variety of rose... More

I cannot recommend this place highly enough. Words don't do it justice! From the warm welcome and friendly advice, homemade lemonade and cookies, 'no-charge' mini bar, homemade shortbread with your coffee/tea, complimentary wine in the garden and dessert wine in the room, amazingly spacious and stylish room, huge bathroom with local Aloe products, but finally - the most amazing breakfast... We stayed for 3 nights in February and could not have found any more enjoyable accommodation to stay. The owners Stephen & Jacqui could not have done more, from arranging the best restaurants in town, to providing mouth watering breakfasts and inviting all guests for pre dinner drinks in the gardens. Nothing was too much trouble for them and and... More

Our travel agent knew nothing about Swellendam or what it had to offer but we needed a stopping off B&B while travelling on the Garden Route. We are glad we found The Hideaway and that our travel company were able to book it for us. The rooms were excellent and provided everything we needed (including complimentary liqueurs) and were also... More

This is the place to get away from it all, to be pampered, to relax, to surround yourself with beauty. It is most certainly worth staying far more than one night. I can never thank Jackie and Stephen enough for all that they did. There is not one single thing that was too much trouble - and believe me I... More

Stephen and Jackie have a slice of utopia with the Hideaway, and their attention to detail and service was simply perfect. The rooms, location, view and atmomsphere all lived up to the hype, and then some. More

You expect comfort and cleanliness when you arrive at any five-star accommodation and The Hideaway has this in abundance. What makes The Hideaway stand out from other places is the personal touches. From the start with home-made lemonade and biscuits on arrival, the sun-downers with Stephen and Jackie (as they share their in depth knowledge of the area), restaurant reservations... More

We booked two rooms in December 2011 as an overnight stay to the Garden Route. The personal touch and attention to detail was amazing. Jackie bakes the most divine shortbread and the 'doggy bag' takeaway of her freshly baked breakfast goodies is the best touch of all. My son had turned twenty one on the day of our arrival and...
