We were booked for lunch at 12.45 and they seated us just after 2pm. Apparently reception got mixed up with our lunchtime booking. The room was very cold with no heater no hot water bottles no heated bed blanket only a smokey fireplace. The claimed underfloor heating made no difference. A very cold bathroom as well. There was a power... More

My husband and I recently had our wedding at babylonstoren, and although a new venue, we were truly delighted by our week-end experience. Nothing was too much trouble and the staff were hands on and made the experience that much more special. The food is exquisite and the ambiance while stylish, has a relaxed flare. The rooms are so refreshing... More

If Shakespeare were alive today and was lucky enough to visit Babylonstoren, he would go home (reluctantly) and start writing a love sonnet to the place. Babylonstoren is sublime. The garden is a sensory feast - a visual and olfactory delight which finds its way onto your plate at the restaurant by way of the fresh produce used by the... More

I've just been to heaven and back-here at Babylonstoren! Stopped for coffee and ended up in paradise! Walking up to the coffeeshop was an experience in itself-the gardens are magic and full of surprises! The 'slowfood' is stylishly presented and tastes out of this world. The veggies are out of the garden, the service helpful, friendly and charming. I'm in... More

“Recently restored by former editor of Elle Decoration South Africa, Karen Roos, this Dutch-style wineland estate with luxury hotel and working farm is not to be missed. Attention to detail is paid to everything while keeping the atmosphere casual and relaxed. Hotel manager Elmine Nel's warmth and friendliness makes you feel like this this is your new home. Do not... Nestled at the foot of the magnificent Franschoek mountains, is the surprise which is Babylonstoren. A working farm, hotel, restaurant and garden, it is the quintessential 5 star experience. Designed with every detail considered from garden layout (Patrice Taravella landscaped the garden), to the grand suites in the Cape Dutch farm buildings, one's senses are surprised, elated and caressed by... This hotel is new and has just been rated as one of the best in the world by Tatler UK - a massive achievement & deservedly so! The hotel rooms are spectacular and the property a wonderful testament to someone's passion. I could not recommend it more as an experience of a lifetime!

I surprised my husband the night before his birthday with a night’s stay at this wonderful place. I had read about it in the travel magazines late last year and was interested to see if it met their lofty descriptions. Hell yeah! This is a working farm (fruit and grapes) with a formal garden that is a sight to behold.... More
