We were in town for a friend's wedding and were really spoilt for choice, there are a lot of Guest houses in Franschhoek! Franschhoek is such a historic town, so we decided, when in Rome....and Basse Provence's manor house dates back to 1855, but gives you all the modern facilities you need. Plus beautiful views, peaceful surroundings, friendly staff and... More

Stayed for 2 nights to attend a wedding that was being held at the adjoining property Rickety Bridge. Stayed in the Paulina Suite which is on the ground floor of the second house. Room was spacious with huge bathroom. Staff all very friendly. Breakfast included in rate is served in the main house and consists of about 4 options. Very... More

Nice place, very clean, friendly staff. Maybe we are unlucky, bur there was party going on till very late (on Thu night), with very loud disco music. They could have at least invited us! We were expecting a relaxing place in the middle of nowhere...

Stayed overnight as a romantic getaway and was very impressed with the standard of the guesthouse. We only paid around R900 which is quite cheap for Franschoek but seemed to get well worth our money. Stayed upstairs in the guest house in Elizabeth Suite. Very spacious and great bed! TV wasn't flatscreen but came with all satellite TV channels which... More

My wife and I stayed here for four nights (bed and breakfast), a couple of kilometres outside Franschhoek, and used it as a base for wine-tasting in the region. The guest houses in South Africa are very good value and this one is no exception. The room was very reasonably priced (800 Rand a night for the two of us),... More

We were recomended to Basse Provence and I'm so glad or we may have missed it! Set in the most beautiful country location, attached to a wonderful vineyard (Rickety Bridge) and in very close proximity to the bustling town of Franshoek. The room was very big with a lovely huge bathroom, set in it's own little cottage next to the... More

My husband and I spent many months searching for the perfect combination of value, luxury and relaxation when finding our accommodations. We weren't disappointed with Basse Provence. In addition to the great room with all the extras, the staff was amazing, making arrangements for us prior to arriving, as well as when we were there. They were more than happy... More

We attended the Franschhoek Champagne Festival this weekend and stayed at Basse Provence. The staff and management were extremely friendly, the breakfast was excellent and the old school feel of the place made us feel right at home. We stayed in the beautiful Gideon Suite and everything was clean and presentable, with airconditioning and everything else we would have expected.... More

We stayed in the Jacob suite, upstairs, located in a beautiful Cape Dutch building which was apparently built in the 1800's. The suite was very roomy and thus a nice size and nicely decorated. The person at reception was very welcoming and had a lot of suggestions on where to eat. The place is about 2 or 3 km from... More

We were 2 elderly couples who stayed at Elisabeth suite and Jacob's suite in November 2011. Though we came very early, at 10 a.m. we were heartly welcomed and allowed to occupy one of the rooms with all of our luggage. We could make ourselves a cup of coffee and enjoy the sun in the adjecent garden with a nice... More
